This trial aims to test a new therapy called 'Expanding Communication and Language Generated in Conversation Treatment' (ECoLoGiC Treatment) to help improve language skills in people with aphasia after a

Who is the study for?
This trial is for English-speaking adults aged 18-85 with moderate to severe aphasia from a left hemisphere stroke at least 6 months ago. They must be able to see and hear (with aids if necessary), produce phrases, understand simple language, and read at least single words. Right-handed individuals before their stroke are eligible.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The ECoLoGiC Treatment aims to improve conversation skills in people with aphasia. It involves twice-weekly sessions over 10 weeks where patients practice talking with therapists who guide them progressively. Group I: Expanding Communication and Language Generated in Conversation TreatmentExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Participants will complete 20 one-hour therapy sessions over 10 weeks with an experienced, trained, and licensed speech-language pathologist delivering Expanding Communication and Language Generated in Conversation Therapy, following the therapy protocol. Sessions will take place through casual conversational interactions, with incremental problem-solving and communication support by the speech-language pathologist.
