STRONG Trial Summary

This trial will study how overweight adolescent girls of different races burn energy and how that affects their appetites.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adolescent girls aged 13-17 who are overweight, having a BMI percentile between the 85th and less than the 95th for their age and sex. What is being tested?
The study is looking at how acute exercise affects total energy expenditure and respiratory quotient (RQ) in comparison to being sedentary. It also aims to measure changes in appetite feelings and actual food intake after exercising among these young girls.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves acute exercise as an intervention, potential side effects may include typical post-exercise symptoms such as muscle soreness, fatigue or short-term changes in appetite.
