Study Summary

This trial will study the effect of a nutrition symbol (NS) on food purchases & nutrition knowledge of students on a university campus.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for University of Toronto students over 18 who can speak and read English, buy at least one meal daily on campus, and have an iPhone or Android. It's not for those under 18, without smartphone access, not buying meals on campus, or currently pregnant/breastfeeding.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests the FoodFlip© App's impact on healthy food choices among students. One version has no nutrition symbol; another displays a 'high-in' symbol for sugar/fat/sodium. The trial will see if this influences purchasing behavior and nutritional knowledge.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves using an app to influence food choices rather than a medical intervention, there are no direct side effects like you'd expect with medications. However, changes in diet as a result of the app may indirectly affect participants' health.
