HABS Trial Summary

This trial examines whether a tech-based intervention can help older adults at risk for Alzheimer's stay physically active. Two groups switch roles halfway, to test the impact.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for men and women over 60 years old who are part of the PREVENT-AD cohort at McGill, have normal cognition, and lead a sedentary lifestyle. They must speak English or French, have internet access, not exercise more than 150 minutes per week or sit over 8 hours daily. Those with unstable medical conditions or severe mobility issues cannot participate.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if a four-week motivational program encouraging physical activity through social interactions and technology can increase activity in older adults at risk for Alzheimer's compared to an active control group. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves increasing physical activity through behavioral motivation rather than medication, side effects may include typical exercise-related discomforts such as muscle soreness or fatigue.
