ACES Trial Summary

This trial will study the effect of aspirin on cancer and mortality rates.

Who is the study for?
The ASPREE Cancer Endpoints Study is for older adults who were part of the parent ASPREE study. In the US, African Americans or Hispanics aged 65+, and Caucasians aged 70+ or 75+ at select sites can join. Australians aged 70+ are also eligible. Participants must be willing to provide DNA samples from blood or saliva, urine, and cancer tumor specimens.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
This trial tests if low-dose aspirin (100 mg daily) affects specific DNA biomarkers related to cancer compared to a placebo. It aims to understand how aspirin might protect against cancer development, mortality, and spread by analyzing biological samples from participants.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While not specified here, common side effects of low-dose aspirin may include gastrointestinal issues like stomach pain and heartburn, increased risk of bleeding, allergic reactions in some individuals, and possibly bruising.
