Study Summary
This trial will test if a new falls prevention system can reduce the number of falls for high-risk patients.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 at high risk of falling, admitted to specific floors of the OSU Brain and Spine Hospital. It's not for those who can't consent, have foot or calf issues preventing sock use, or if socks interfere with medical treatment.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if the PUP™ Falls Prevention System reduces falls in 'high fall risk' patients compared to previous fall rates from the same hospital units without this system.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves a non-medical device (socks), traditional side effects like you'd see with medications are not applicable. However, discomfort or skin reactions could occur.
