Study Summary
This trial is studying a type of radiation therapy called SRS to see how well it works in treating patients with a brain tumor that has spread.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with metastatic brain tumors that can be surgically removed. Candidates must have a Karnofsky performance status of 70-100%, indicating they are able to care for themselves, and an expected lifespan of at least three months. They should not have had previous brain radiation therapy or certain chemotherapy treatments for brain metastasis, and cannot be pregnant or nursing.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is examining the effectiveness of specialized radiation therapy targeted at the area where a metastatic brain tumor has been surgically removed. The goal is to see if this approach effectively kills any remaining cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While specific side effects are not listed here, radiation therapy can generally cause fatigue, headaches, scalp irritation, and hair loss in the treated area. It may also lead to short-term memory problems or changes in cognitive function.
