Study Summary

This trial will test whether a person's own blood can help them overcome difficulties conceiving.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for women aged 18-45 who have had at least three unsuccessful embryo transfers or two failed transfers of embryos with normal chromosomes. Participants must have a healthy uterine cavity and be planning in vitro fertilization at Stanford Fertility and Reproductive Health using either a genetically tested embryo, a high-quality blastocyst if under 37, or an egg donor's blastocyst.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing the effectiveness of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) versus a placebo in improving pregnancy rates for women with recurrent implantation failure. It's a randomized controlled pilot study where participants will receive either PRP or an inactive substance without knowing which one they're getting.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While specific side effects are not detailed here, PRP involves using the patient’s own platelets to stimulate healing and regeneration, which generally has minimal risks. Possible side effects may include irritation or pain at the injection site.

Why did patients apply to this trial?

My Name is Lenette Howell and I am 45 years old and will be 46 in July. I have a bachelors and masters in Social work and a second masters in Special Educaiton. I am currently an crisis response Social Worker . My previous employment was a elementary special education teacher. I was a teacher for 8 years and I enjoyed every bit of it. Preciously I was a foster care social worker with the state of Georgia. All of my careers involve children as I have always loved working with kids. I have spent my adult life working with kids and have always longed for one of my own. I started my trying to conceive journey back in 2009 when I experience a miscarriage at 10 weeks. It was soon discovered that I had fibroids. I was told at that time that if they did not bother me then it wouldn’t be an issue. I never got pregnant after that. I had my first myomectomy in 2015 in which they removed 28 large fibroids. I was then put on clomid for about 6 cycles with, however, I still did not get pregnant. I then went to Shady grove to get testing done to see what was the issue and was diagnosed with unexplained infertility with low egg reserve. I tried for 3 years with Shady Grove and I have done 2 cycles of IUI with no live pregnancy.
