- You don't have any medical conditions that would prevent you from using a high flow nasal cannula or noninvasive ventilation.You have had a severe abdominal injury that required surgery to treat.You have had a severe head injury with a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score less than 8.You cannot tolerate treatments for lung conditions.You have experienced damage to your spinal cord.You have a long-term condition that affects your muscles and nerves.You have facial or sinus fractures that require special care.You have injuries in your chest, such as broken ribs, broken sternum, broken spine, lung bruises, collapsed lung, blood in the chest, or damage to the diaphragm.You cannot use high flow nasal cannula or noninvasive ventilation for medical reasons.You have been using a breathing device at home for a long time before going to the hospital.If you have been injured and are currently receiving any treatments for your breathing, you cannot participate in the study.
- Group 1: Not Intubated
- Group 2: Intubated Patients Undergoing Extubation
- No Placebo-Only Group - All patients enrolled in this study will receive some form of active treatment.
- Screening: It may take up to 3 Weeks to process to see if you qualify in this trial.
- Treatment: The duration you will receive the treatment varies.
- Follow Ups: You may be asked to continue sharing information regarding the trial for 6 Months after you stop receiving the treatment.
