Study Summary

This trial aims to create a better hearing aid fitting process by developing a toolset that guides signal processing based on the individual auditory and cognitive abilities of the patient. The clinical trial portion of the project will validate the use of the toolset by comparing outcomes of patients fit with the toolset to those fit using the current standard of care.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for individuals with sensorineural hearing loss, having a certain range of hearing ability and symmetrical losses in both ears. It's not for those who've used hearing aids recently, have conductive loss or profound hearing loss, cognitive impairment below a set threshold, cochlear implants, significant otologic/neurologic disorders, unstable medical conditions or non-English speakers.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing the effectiveness of individually-tailored hearing aid fittings. The goal is to develop and validate tools that adjust signal processing based on each patient's unique auditory and cognitive capabilities to optimize their experience with the device.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves fitting of hearing aids rather than medication or invasive procedures, traditional side effects are not applicable. However, participants may experience discomfort or an adjustment period to the new settings on their devices.
