Study Summary
This trial is testing whether two drugs, Cosopt and Xalatan, can help people with glaucoma or ocular hypertension by reducing intraocular pressure.
Who is the study for?
This study is for adults over 18 with mild to moderate open-angle or pseudoexfoliative glaucoma, or ocular hypertension. Participants can be newly diagnosed or on up to two topical medications but not systemic meds that increase eye pressure. They must have decent vision and no recent eye surgery.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The trial compares the effectiveness of two FDA-approved glaucoma drops, Cosopt and Xalatan, in reducing eye pressure after a laser treatment called SLT. About 30 participants will receive either drug if their eye pressure remains high post-SLT to determine which is more effective.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Cosopt may cause side effects like stinging in the eyes, taste changes, and fatigue. Xalatan can lead to redness in the eyes, eyelash growth changes, and darkening of iris color. Both drugs aim to reduce intraocular pressure but individual reactions may vary.
