Study Summary

This trial looks at whether there are glucose differences between left and right arms in diabetic patients, and may identify new ways to measure glucose.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-65 with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes who have an HbA1c level of at least 6.5, can attend virtual meetings, and are willing to wear glucose monitors on both arms without using heat therapy or consuming certain acids that affect readings. Excluded are those with skin conditions, planned imaging tests, severe needle phobia, current infections or allergies to adhesives, pregnant women, and those with implanted devices.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study investigates if there's a difference in blood glucose levels when measured from the left versus right arm using Freestyle Libre 3 CGMs in diabetic patients. It aims to determine whether one side provides more consistent readings than the other.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
There may not be direct side effects from the intervention as it involves monitoring rather than medication; however, potential discomforts include skin irritation from adhesive sensors and minor bleeding or bruising where needles enter for sensor placement.

Study Objectives

Outcome measures can provide a clearer picture of what you can expect from a treatment.
Primary outcome measures
Time-matched CGM-derived blood glucose differences between left arm and right arm in patients with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes below target range (<70 mg/dL).
Secondary outcome measures
Time-matched CGM-derived blood glucose differences between left arm and right arm in patients above target range (>180 mg/dL).
Time-matched CGM-derived blood glucose differences between left arm and right arm in patients in target range (70-180 mg/dL).
