Study Summary

This trial is studying whether sending personalized invitations to African Americans for colorectal cancer screening is more effective than standard reminders.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for African American adults who haven't followed the recommended guidelines for colorectal cancer screening, have no family history of this cancer before age 60, haven't been diagnosed with colorectal issues or inflammatory bowel disease, and visited a primary care office in the last two years.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing if personalized invitations to get screened for colorectal cancer are more effective than standard reminders. It's a phase III trial where participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a personalized invitation or a standard reminder.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial focuses on increasing screening rather than testing new medications, there aren't direct side effects from interventions. However, typical risks associated with colorectal screenings may include discomfort during procedures and very rare complications like bleeding.

Study Objectives

Outcome measures can provide a clearer picture of what you can expect from a treatment.
Primary outcome measures
Intervention impact on colorectal cancer (CRC) screening utilization over the 6-month observation period
Secondary outcome measures
Intervention impact on CRC screening preference, based on data obtained from both the endpoint chart audit and the endpoint survey
Intervention impact on population health-management representations related to CRC screening, as assessed by perceived salience and coherence and self-efficacy-related CRC screening measured with 6 to 10 Likert-type items on both the baseline and end ...
