Study Summary

This trial will study whether adding a mindful breathing module to a home-based PR system can help decrease breathlessness and increase emotional perception, emotional intelligence, and mindfulness.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for COPD patients who are current or former smokers with a significant smoking history, aged 40 or older, and experiencing breathlessness. It's not suitable for those likely to drop out, planning to move away, unable to follow instructions due to severe mental conditions, or too unwell for mild exercise.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests a home-based pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) system against the same system plus mindful breathing training. The goal is to see if adding mindful breathing can reduce breathlessness and improve emotional well-being in COPD patients.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves non-invasive techniques like pursed-lip breathing and mindfulness exercises rather than medication, side effects are minimal but may include discomfort from new breathing patterns.
