Study Summary

This trial will study how losing and gaining water affects the brain, by having people exercise and limit fluid intake, then drink fluids to recover the lost water. Tests will track brain function.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for healthy, recreationally active individuals aged 18-26 who don't use tobacco or nicotine. It's not for those with a history of significant health issues like heart, metabolic, or musculoskeletal problems, nor for those on medications that affect exercise response.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study examines how losing and regaining body water affects brain function. Participants will dehydrate by exercising and not drinking fluids to lose 5% body weight, then drink the lost amount over two hours before taking cognitive tests.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects may include temporary dehydration-related symptoms such as dizziness, headache, dry mouth/throat, fatigue during fluid loss phase; however specific risks will be monitored closely.
