Study Summary

This trial will compare two different digital mental health interventions to see which is more effective. One intervention will use an app called Vira, which provides low intensity coaching, while the other will provide a range of information on how to manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for US citizens or residents aged 13 and older who are experiencing depression or anxiety, as indicated by specific scores on mental health questionnaires. Participants must be English-speaking, have used a smartphone in the past week, and own an Android or iPhone with the latest software. Those with severe suicidality or under age 13 cannot join.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study compares two digital tools for managing depression and anxiety: one is the Vira app accompanied by coaching via phone and messaging; the other provides extensive mood education. The effectiveness of these apps will be assessed among diverse patients from Rush University Medical Center's clinics.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
As this trial involves digital mental health interventions rather than medications, traditional side effects are not expected. However, users may experience discomfort or emotional distress when engaging with content related to their symptoms.
