Study Summary

This trial is testing whether a coach-guided online intervention can help reduce distress and burden for family caregivers of people with dementia, compared to a control group.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adult family caregivers of people with dementia who have mild depression, can give informed consent, and have internet access. It's not for those with cognitive impairments, recent psychiatric hospitalizations or severe mental illness diagnoses, on certain medications, planning to institutionalize their relative soon, or likely to drop out due to health issues.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests a ten-week online Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) program guided by a coach against a control group. The goal is to see if the ACT group experiences better mental health outcomes including reduced depressive symptoms after the program and at a three-month follow-up.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
As this trial involves psychoeducation and therapy rather than medication, typical medical side effects are not expected. Participants may experience emotional discomfort as they engage in therapeutic activities designed to address depression related to caregiving.
