Study Summary
This trial is studying boron neutron capture therapy to see how well it works in treating patients with stage III melanoma.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with stage III melanoma, where the cancerous area is visible and not larger than 10 cm across. Participants must be relatively healthy (Karnofsky score of at least 70%), expected to live more than three months, and have a tumor depth between 1.0-6.0 cm from the skin surface. What is being tested?
The study is testing Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on patients with stage III melanoma to see if it can kill cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue. This phase I trial aims to determine the therapy's effectiveness specifically for this advanced skin cancer condition.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While specific side effects for BNCT in this trial aren't listed, common ones may include redness or swelling of the skin, blistering or peeling at treatment sites, fatigue, and potential damage to nearby normal tissues.
