This study is evaluating whether corticosteroid treatment for optic neuritis is beneficial or harmful.

I have been treated with steroids for optic neuritis or MS.

I have a condition other than MS that could cause my optic neuritis.

I have had sudden vision problems in one eye for no more than 8 days.

I have never had optic neuritis in the affected eye.

I have an eye condition affecting my pupil's reaction and field of vision.

This study is evaluating whether corticosteroid treatment for optic neuritis is safe and effective.

I have been treated with corticosteroids for optic neuritis or MS.

I have a vision and pupil reaction issue in one eye.

RATIONALE: Inserting the gene for p53 into a person's tumor may improve the body's ability to fight cancer or make the cancer more sensitive to chemotherapy.

PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of gene therapy in treating patients who have recurrent head and neck cancer.

Gene Therapy for Head and Neck Cancer

This study is evaluating whether a gene therapy can improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy in treating people with recurrent head and neck cancer.

My cancer came back after treatments like surgery or radiation aimed at curing it.

I am not planning any surgery on the areas where the study drug will be injected.

I am not on high dose steroids, haven't had experimental therapy in 4 weeks, and have never had gene therapy with adenoviral vectors.

I can care for myself but may not be able to do active work.

My cancer is a type of squamous cell carcinoma located in the head or neck.

My kidney function is not specified for this trial.

I am not on immune-boosting drugs and haven't had an organ or tissue transplant.

It's been over 4 weeks since my last chemotherapy, and over 6 weeks if it was with nitrosourea or mitomycin. I'm not on any other chemotherapy.

I am not taking high doses of steroids, except for low-dose long-term use.

I haven't had radiotherapy on my cancer sites for at least 4 weeks.

My cancer came back after initial treatments aimed at curing it, such as surgery or radiation.

My cancer can be reached for direct injections.

My tumor biopsy is available for p53 mutation testing.

My liver function tests are within normal limits.

Gene Therapy

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether giving monoclonal antibody therapy is more effective than a placebo in treating patients with ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer who have responded to surgery and chemotherapy.

PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of monoclonal antibody therapy in treating patients with residual disease from stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer following surgery and chemotherapy.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy for Ovarian Cancer

This study is evaluating whether monoclonal antibody therapy is more effective than a placebo in treating patients with residual disease from stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer following surgery and chemotherapy.

I can take care of myself and perform daily activities.

I've had more than one chemotherapy regimen and my last treatment was less than 4 weeks ago.

I still have visible or palpable cancer after initial surgery.

I have not had radiotherapy in my abdomen area in the last 4 weeks.

My CA 125 levels were high before or at the time of my surgery.

I had surgery less than 4 weeks ago and have had more than one debulking procedure.

My ovarian, tubal, or peritoneal cancer responded completely to initial treatment.

I had immunotherapy or used mouse-derived antibodies less than 6 weeks ago.

My bilirubin levels are not more than 1.5 times the normal upper limit.

My creatinine level is 1.6 mg/dL or lower.

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells.

PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of monoclonal antibody therapy in treating patients who have ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer.

This study is evaluating whether a monoclonal antibody can be used to treat ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer.

It's been over 4 weeks since my last platinum-based chemotherapy, and I'm not on any chemotherapy now.

My treatment plan does not specify endocrine therapy.

I haven't had whole abdomen radiotherapy and it's been 6+ months since my last limited area radiotherapy.

It has been over 4 weeks since my last surgery and I have not had my spleen removed.

I have had only one platinum-based chemotherapy treatment.

My blood pressure is controlled, and I don't have heart failure or irregular heartbeats.

My condition has not come back after treatment.

My cancer originates from the ovary, fallopian tube, or peritoneum.

My cancer is invasive and not considered low-grade.

My bilirubin levels are not more than 1.5 times the normal range.

I have never received mouse-derived antibody treatments.

I haven't taken any immunosuppressive or investigational drugs in the last 4 weeks.

I am able to get out of my bed or chair and move around.

PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with or without monoclonal antibody therapy in treating patients who have refractory or relapsed acute myelogenous leukemia.

I will use effective birth control during and for 1 month after the study.

I have a serious infection that isn't getting better with treatment.

I have been diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia.

My bilirubin level is above 2.0 mg/dL, not due to Gilbert's disease or leukemia.

My heart's left ventricle isn't working properly.

I haven't had recent serious heart problems.

I can perform most of my daily activities without assistance.

I do not have leukemia in my brain or spinal cord.

I do not have any other cancer that needs treatment.

My blood, liver, kidney, and heart meet the trial's health requirements.

I do not have leukemia in an advanced stage.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Vaccines may make the body build an immune response to kill cancer cells. It is not yet known which regimen of chemotherapy combined with vaccine therapy is more effective for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy followed by vaccine therapy plus sargramostim in treating patients who have stage III or stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

I have not taken corticosteroids for lymphoma.

I haven't taken corticosteroids or immunosuppressants for other conditions in the last year.

I have not received antibody therapy for my lymphoma.

I have not had chemotherapy for lymphoma.

I have used corticosteroids or optical solutions before my CT scan.

My lymphoma is at an advanced stage and confirmed by a biopsy.

I've had radiation for lymphoma at no more than 2 sites.

I have at least one tumor that can be measured on scans, besides the one biopsied.

My cancer has not spread to my brain or spinal cord.

I haven't had any cancer in the last 5 years, except for certain skin cancers or cervical pre-cancer.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy and kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known if combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without radiation therapy and/or surgery in treating Ewing's sarcoma.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying different combination chemotherapy regimens to see how well they work when given with or without peripheral stem cell transplantation, radiation therapy, and/or surgery in treating patients with Ewing's sarcoma.

Combination Chemotherapy for Ewing's Sarcoma

This study is evaluating whether a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy is more effective than chemotherapy alone in treating Ewing's sarcoma.

My cancer is a type of Ewing's sarcoma or related.

My disease is either operable, was operated on, needs or doesn’t need immediate radiotherapy, has spread to lungs/pleura or beyond, and it’s been less than 45 days since my definitive biopsy.

My kidney function is normal, with a filtration rate of 60 mL/min or more.

I don't have any health or social issues that would stop me from joining the study.

This partially randomized phase III trial studies isotretinoin with dinutuximab, aldesleukin, and sargramostim to see how well it works compared to isotretinoin alone following stem cell transplant in treating patients with neuroblastoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as isotretinoin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as dinutuximab, may block tumor growth in different ways by targeting certain cells. Aldesleukin and sargramostim may stimulate a person's white blood cells to kill cancer cells. It is not yet known if chemotherapy is more effective with or without dinutuximab, aldesleukin, and sargramostim following stem cell transplant in treating neuroblastoma.

Isotretinoin With or Without Dinutuximab, Aldesleukin, and Sargramostim Following Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Neuroblastoma

Isotretinoin +/- Immunotherapy for Neuroblastoma

This study is evaluating whether a combination of chemotherapy, isotretinoin, dinutuximab, aldesleukin, and sargramostim is more effective than chemotherapy alone in treating patients with neuroblastoma.

My heart's pumping ability is confirmed to be normal by recent tests.

I have high-risk neuroblastoma, or it became high-risk after initial diagnosis.

I completed therapy for my cancer, including intensive treatment and a stem cell transplant.

My seizures are under control with medication and I have no severe brain-related side effects.

My parent or guardian has given written consent for me to participate.

I am eligible for a second stem cell transplant.

My latest bone marrow tests show less than 10% tumor cells before my stem cell transplant or joining this study.

I started my first chemotherapy for high-risk neuroblastoma less than 12 months ago.

I've had recent scans and tests to check my cancer's stage before joining the trial.

I've completed therapy for neuroblastoma, including intensive treatments and possibly surgery.

I am eligible for a tandem transplant and have followed specific treatment protocols within the last 12 months.

My veno-occlusive disease is stable or getting better.

My lung function tests are above 60% of what's expected, or I'm a child without breathing issues.

My neuroblastoma shows a positive response according to specific criteria before stem cell transplant.

My kidney function is within the required range for my age and gender.

I have never received GD2 antibody therapy.

I can do most activities and my doctor thinks I have at least 2 months to live.

I still have cancer after radiotherapy but haven't had a biopsy.

My neuroblastoma shows a positive response to treatment before stem cell transplant.

My kidney function is normal or near normal.

Whole-Body MRI for Metastatic Cancer

This study is evaluating whether a new imaging procedure can detect metastases in patients with cancer.

I have had a whole body MRI and PET scan before starting treatment.

My diabetes is under control with a fasting blood sugar not over 200 mg/dL.

I have or am suspected to have a specific type of cancer like Rhabdomyosarcoma or Lymphoma.

I had a PET scan, so I didn't need a gallium scan for my lymphoma.

I have had a bone scan if I have neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, or another sarcoma.

My cancer did not start in my brain or spinal cord.

I had a biopsy or surgery less than 2 months ago.

Whole-Body MRI

This randomized phase III trial is studying how well standard-dose radiation therapy works compared to reduced-dose radiation therapy in children 3-7 years of age AND how well standard volume boost radiation therapy works compared to smaller volume boost radiation therapy when given together with chemotherapy in treating young patients who have undergone surgery for newly diagnosed standard-risk medulloblastoma. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine, cisplatin, lomustine, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving radiation therapy with chemotherapy after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. It is not yet known whether standard-dose radiation therapy is more effective than reduced-dose radiation therapy when given together with chemotherapy after surgery in treating young patients with medulloblastoma.

Comparison of Radiation Therapy Regimens in Combination With Chemotherapy in Treating Young Patients With Newly Diagnosed Standard-Risk Medulloblastoma

This study is evaluating whether standard-dose radiation therapy works better than reduced-dose radiation therapy in treating young patients with medulloblastoma.

I have not had any radiotherapy treatments before.

My cancer, medulloblastoma, is confirmed and located in the back of my brain.

My condition is considered standard-risk.

My remaining cancer is smaller than 1.5 cm^2 and not widespread, confirmed by a recent MRI.

My cancer has not spread to my brain, spine, or cerebrospinal fluid.

This randomized phase III trial studies lenalidomide and low-dose dexamethasone to see how well it works compared to lenalidomide and standard-dose dexamethasone, given with or without thalidomide, in treating patients with multiple myeloma. Biological therapies, such as lenalidomide, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop cancer cells from growing. Lenalidomide and thalidomide may also stop the growth of multiple myeloma by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as dexamethasone, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving lenalidomide, thalidomide, and dexamethasone together may kill more cancer cells.

Lenalidomide and Dexamethasone With or Without Thalidomide in Treating Patients With Multiple Myeloma

This study is evaluating whether lenalidomide and low-dose dexamethasone works better than lenalidomide and standard-dose dexamethasone, given with or without thalidomide, in treating patients with multiple myeloma.

This randomized phase III trial studies oxaliplatin, leucovorin calcium, fluorouracil, and bevacizumab to see how well they work compared to oxaliplatin, leucovorin calcium, and fluorouracil in treating patients who have undergone surgery for stage II colon cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin, leucovorin calcium, and fluorouracil, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. It is not yet known whether giving combination chemotherapy together with bevacizumab is more effective than combination chemotherapy alone in treating colon cancer.
