Study Summary

This trial will measure oxygenation in the brain while elderly with hearing loss listen to sentences in noise, to measure response times and accuracy. Participants will do 4 sessions of at least 100 sentences each.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-99 who regularly use hearing aids, are fluent in English, and have mild to moderate-severe symmetrical sensorineural hearing loss. It's not suitable for minors, those with different types of hearing loss, or vulnerable individuals.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests how the brain responds when trying to understand sentences in noise using three scenarios: unaided listening, and using hearing aids set to omnidirectional or directional modes. Participants will attend four sessions including a training session.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
There are no direct side effects mentioned for participating in this trial as it involves standard use of hearing aids and listening tasks without any medical interventions.
