RATIONALE: Estrogen can stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using triptorelin, exemestane, and tamoxifen may fight breast cancer by blocking the use of estrogen. It is not yet known whether giving triptorelin together with exemestane is more effective than triptorelin and tamoxifen in treating hormone-responsive breast cancer.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying triptorelin and exemestane to see how well they work compared to triptorelin and tamoxifen in treating premenopausal women with hormone-responsive breast cancer.

Hormone Therapy for Breast Cancer

This study is evaluating whether a combination of hormones is more effective than a single hormone in treating breast cancer.

I don't have any chronic diseases that would interfere with long-term treatment.

I haven't had any cancer except for skin cancer in the last 5 years.

My breast cancer cannot be removed by surgery and has spread to nearby areas.

I have not had chemotherapy before or after surgery.

I haven't had any cancer except certain skin cancers or non-spreading breast cancer in the last 5 years.

My estrogen levels are considered premenopausal after surgery.

I have never had a blood clot or if I did, my doctor says it's okay.

My breast cancer diagnosis was confirmed through tissue examination.

My cancer has not spread to distant parts of my body.

I have had breast cancer in either the same or the opposite breast before.

I do not have liver disease that would interfere with long-term monitoring.

I do not have kidney disease that would interfere with long-term monitoring.

I am not taking any estrogen, progesterone, or androgen treatments.

I am not taking any other aromatase inhibitors.

I don't have any lung diseases that would interfere with long-term monitoring.

I am fertile and not using birth control methods that don't involve hormones.

I haven't had hormone therapy for breast cancer since diagnosis.

I have never had radiation therapy for ovarian cancer.

I am not currently taking bisphosphonates, or I meet the specific criteria for their use.

I haven't used tamoxifen, SERMs, or hormone therapy for over a year before my breast cancer diagnosis.

I am not currently on any oral or patch-based hormone treatments.

I have not had both of my ovaries removed.

I do not have any detectable cancer in the lymph nodes under my arm.

I am a woman who has not gone through menopause.

I have had surgery to remove lymph nodes under my arm or a biopsy that was negative.

I am not using any hormonal contraceptives.

My cancer is only in my breast and nearby lymph nodes.

My cancer was entirely removed by surgery.

I don't have heart disease that would interfere with long-term monitoring.

I have had surgery or radiation on the lymph nodes under my arm due to cancer.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, and paclitaxel, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug and giving them after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. It is not yet known which combination chemotherapy regimen is more effective in treating resected breast cancer.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is comparing 2 different regimens of combination chemotherapy to see how well they work in treating patients who have undergone surgery for stage I, stage II, or stage III breast cancer.

Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer

This study is evaluating whether a combination of drugs is more effective than a single drug in treating breast cancer.

I have had surgery to remove breast cancer and affected lymph nodes.

I haven't had cancer in the past 5 years, except for certain skin cancers or early-stage cervical or breast cancer.

My cancer is at an early or mid-stage and can be operated on.

I know my cancer's estrogen and progesterone receptor status.

My tumor is smaller than 1 cm and doesn't meet certain criteria.

I have breast cancer in both breasts, diagnosed within a month of each other, and the more advanced tumor meets the study criteria.

My breast cancer is confirmed and not spread beyond stage III.

My tumor is larger than 2 cm or larger than 1 cm with specific features.

My cancer has not spread to my lymph nodes and my tumor is at least 1 cm with high-risk features or larger than 2 cm.

My cancer has not spread to nearby tissues.

My breast cancer has not spread to underarm or breast nodes.

My breast cancer has spread to my lymph nodes.

RATIONALE: Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using letrozole may fight breast cancer by lowering the amount of estrogen the body makes. It is not yet known whether letrozole is more effective than a placebo in treating patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying letrozole to see how well it works compared with a placebo in treating postmenopausal women who have received hormone therapy for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

Letrozole for Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer

This study is evaluating whether a drug called letrozole can help treat breast cancer.

You cannot participate in this study if you have any of the following conditions:

You have had a bone fracture in your wrist, hip, or spine that was not caused by an injury.

If you have high cholesterol, you must have it under control with medication or lifestyle changes for at least one year. If you have a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, smoking, high triglycerides, heart disease, or a family history of early-onset heart disease, you may not be eligible to participate.

You have had another type of cancer in the past, but you are considered to be cured for at least 5 years, and your doctor believes the cancer is unlikely to come back. However, if you had certain types of non-invasive cancers in the past 5 years, you may still be eligible.

Letrozole

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Androgens can cause the growth of prostate cancer cells. Antihormone therapy, such as goserelin and leuprolide, may stop the adrenal glands from making androgens. Giving docetaxel and leuprolide or goserelin before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. It is not yet known whether giving docetaxel and leuprolide or goserelin before surgery is more effective than surgery alone in treating patients with prostate cancer.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying docetaxel and leuprolide or goserelin to see how well they work when given before surgery compared with surgery alone in treating patients with high-risk localized prostate cancer.

Chemotherapy + Hormone Therapy With Surgery for Prostate Cancer

This study is evaluating whether giving docetaxel and leuprolide or goserelin before surgery is more effective than surgery alone in treating patients with prostate cancer.

I have a history of blood clots or stroke and cannot undergo major prostate surgery.

I am able to get out of my bed or chair and move around.

I have not had any cancer except for basal or squamous cell skin cancer in the last 5 years.

My cancer is not small cell, neuroendocrine, or transitional cell carcinoma.

I need assistance with my daily activities due to my health condition.

My cancer is in an early stage and has not spread, as confirmed by scans.

I am a good candidate for prostate surgery and expected to live more than 10 years.

I have a history of blood clots but am considered fit for prostate surgery.

My cancer is confirmed as prostate adenocarcinoma.

My prostate cancer is aggressive, with a high Gleason score or a low chance of being progression-free in 5 years.

I have prostate cancer and haven't had surgery, radiation, or chemo, but may have had up to 4 months of hormone therapy.

My prostate cancer's aggressiveness has been measured.

I have had a condition where my lymphocytes multiply unusually.

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Androgens can cause the growth of prostate cancer cells. Antihormone therapy, such as flutamide, bicalutamide, and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist, may lessen the amount of androgens made by the body. It is not yet known which regimen of radiation therapy with or without androgen-deprivation therapy is more effective for prostate cancer.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying prostate radiation therapy to see how well it works compared with short-term androgen deprivation therapy given together with pelvic lymph node radiation therapy with or without prostate radiation therapy in treating patients with a rising PSA after surgery for prostate cancer.

Radiation Therapy + Androgen Deprivation for Prostate Cancer

This study is evaluating whether radiation therapy is more effective than short-term androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer.

I have a lump in the prostate area that might indicate cancer has returned.

I received chemotherapy before or after my prostate surgery.

I have not had certain cancer treatments like cryosurgery or radiation in the pelvic area recently.

My prostate cancer was treated with surgery and either no lymph nodes were affected or their status is unknown.

My PSA levels are between 0.1 and 2.0 ng/mL after my prostate surgery.

My testosterone levels are within the normal range.

My cancer has not spread to my pelvic lymph nodes or any enlarged nodes have tested negative.

I am undergoing or have undergone hormone therapy for cancer.

RATIONALE: Androgens can cause the growth of prostate cancer cells. Antiandrogen drugs, such as abiraterone acetate, may lessen the amount of androgens made by the body. It may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.

PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well abiraterone acetate works in treating patients with prostate cancer who have undergone initial hormone therapy.

This study is evaluating whether abiraterone acetate is safe and effective in treating patients with prostate cancer.

I have had cancer before, but it meets the trial's specific criteria.

I don't have active hepatitis, severe liver issues, or serious heart failure.

I am not taking any medications that could affect the study drugs.

I am not taking any heart rhythm altering medications.

My prostate cancer diagnosis was confirmed through a tissue test.

I am taking or can take Degarelix for hormone therapy.

My overall health, blood, kidney, liver, and hormone levels meet the trial's requirements.

I do not have stomach or bowel problems that affect how I absorb medicine.

I have not had chemotherapy or radiopharmaceuticals for prostate cancer.

I have not used ketoconazole for prostate cancer.

I take 10 mg or less of prednisone daily for another health issue.

I am not taking any hormone-related medications.

I have never received Provenge treatment.

My cancer has spread to other parts of my body and I am starting hormone therapy.

The purpose of this study is to compare two biologic methods for the treatment of articular cartilage defects in the knee. The first method, microfracture, is the standard of care and is routinely used to recruit cells from the subchondral bone marrow to the site of cartilage loss. The second method is the application of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) to the defect site. In theory, ADSCs on a collagen scaffold should enable the delivery of more specific progenitor cells to the site of injury, resulting in better regeneration and integration of articular cartilage at the site of a defect as compared to the microfracture method.

This study looked at how effective the study drug (tepotinib) was at stopping the growth and spread of lung cancer. This study also measures a number of other things including safety of the study drug and the side effects, how body processes the study drug, or how the study drug affects your quality of life. The study also has an optional pharmacogenetic research part. Pharmacogenetic research is an important way to try to understand the role of genetics in human disease and how genes impact the effectiveness of drugs, because differences in genes can change the way a person responds to a particular drug.
