Radioactive MIBG for Neuroblastoma

This study is evaluating whether a radioactive substance may be used to treat certain types of cancer.

My neuroblastoma diagnosis is confirmed by specific tests and criteria.

My cancer has grown, come back, or didn't fully respond to standard treatments.

I am over 1 year old and can follow safety measures for radiation therapy.

I have my stem cells stored for treatment after MIBG therapy.

I am between 1 and 21 years old and can follow safety rules during treatment.

I am not pregnant and will use birth control during the study.

It's been over 2 weeks since my last biological therapy and 3 weeks since my last chemotherapy.

My major organs are mostly healthy, except I may have a serious hearing problem.

I have a serious infection that antibiotics can't control.

I have been diagnosed with a malignant pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma.

Iobenguane I 131

Pivotal Trial

This randomized phase III trial studies lenalidomide to see how well it works compared to a placebo in treating patients with multiple myeloma who are undergoing autologous stem cell transplant. Giving chemotherapy before a peripheral blood stem cell transplant helps kill any cancer cells that are in the body and helps make room in the patient's bone marrow for new blood-forming cells (stem cells) to grow. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood and stored. More chemotherapy is then given to prepare the bone marrow for the stem cell transplant. The stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood-forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy. Biological therapies, such as lenalidomide, may stimulate or suppress the immune system in different ways and stop cancer cells from growing. Giving lenalidomide after autologous stem cell transplant may be an effective treatment for multiple myeloma.

This study is evaluating whether lenalidomide might be an effective treatment for multiple myeloma.

I am fully active or restricted in physically strenuous activity but can do light work.

My lungs work well enough to breathe without symptoms.

My multiple myeloma is active and needs treatment, and I've responded to initial therapy.

I started my first cancer treatment less than a year ago.

I have collected the required number of stem cells for my treatment.

My cancer did not worsen after my first treatment, and I've had no more than two treatment plans.

I am not pregnant or nursing and will follow strict birth control measures if of childbearing age.

I have not had any blood, bone marrow, or organ transplant.

I do not have any serious infections right now.

My heart pumps well, with an ejection fraction of 40% or higher.

I have had less than a year of treatment, including specific medications.

My colorectal cancer was confirmed at MSKCC.

I have been treated with A33 or tested positive for huA33 HAHA.

I am eligible for surgery or biopsy for my colorectal cancer.

I am a woman who can have children and have a negative pregnancy test.

I am mostly able to care for myself and carry out daily activities.

Iodine-124 labeled humanized A33

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of bevacizumab, to hepatic arterial therapy with floxuridine (FUDR) and dexamethasone (Dex) (regional chemotherapy), and either oxaliplatin or CPT-11, plus 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin (systemic chemotherapy) will increase disease free survival in patients who have undergone liver resection. The patient will be randomized (a computer generated decision as in the flip of a coin) to receive, or not to receive bevacizumab in addition to regional and systemic chemotherapy.

I have not had radiation to the liver, but it's okay if I had pelvic radiation over 4 weeks ago.

I do not have any serious wounds, ulcers, or unhealed bone fractures.

I take more than 325 mg of aspirin daily or use anti-inflammatory drugs that affect blood clotting.

I have a bleeding disorder or a condition affecting blood clotting.

My cancer has spread to my brain or central nervous system.

I am currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

I do not have an active infection, fluid in my abdomen, or brain issues due to liver disease.

I have previously been treated with HAI FUDR.

My urine protein levels are low enough to join the study.

I have not had a heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe heart failure, serious irregular heartbeat, or major blood vessel disease in the last year.

I have had a stroke or a transient ischemic attack.

My colorectal cancer has spread to my liver and there's no sign of it outside the liver.

My liver cancer can potentially be fully removed by surgery, and it hasn't spread elsewhere.

I have recently used medication to break up blood clots.

I have been diagnosed with Gilbert's disease.

I do not have brain metastases or a history of major neurological conditions.

I haven't had major surgery or significant injury in the last 28 days.

I last received chemotherapy more than 3 weeks ago and haven't had any since liver surgery.

This phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating patients with malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumor that progressed during or after previous treatment with imatinib mesylate and sunitinib malate. Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.

Sorafenib in Treating Patients With Malignant Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor That Progressed During or After Previous Treatment With Imatinib Mesylate and Sunitinib Malate

This study is evaluating whether sorafenib is effective in treating patients with malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumor that progressed during or after previous treatment with imatinib mesylate and sunitinib malate.

I do not have any blockage or holes in my intestines.

I have never taken medication to stop new blood vessels from forming in my tumor.

I haven't had immunotherapy after my last dose of imatinib or sunitinib.

I am not taking certain seizure medications, St. John's wort, or Rifampin.

I am on warfarin, but it doesn't meet the trial's criteria.

I do not have any uncontrolled illnesses.

My cancer is a confirmed gastrointestinal stromal tumor.

I have no allergies to sorafenib or similar drugs.

My condition cannot be cured with surgery.

My tumor tests positive for the KIT protein.

My condition worsened after treatment with imatinib and sunitinib.

I have a tumor that can be measured and is larger than 20 mm or 10 mm on a CT scan.

My measurable cancer is not in an area that has been previously treated with radiation.

I do not have cancer that has spread to my brain.

I am able to get out of my bed or chair and move around.

I haven't taken any experimental drugs since my last dose of imatinib or sunitinib.

I haven't had any cancer except for skin cancer or cervical pre-cancer in the last 5 years.

It has been over 2 weeks since my last imatinib or sunitinib treatment.

I have not taken drugs targeting the MAPK pathway.

I haven't had chemotherapy or chemoembolization after my last dose of imatinib mesylate or sunitinib malate.

It's been over 4 weeks since my last radiotherapy and I've recovered.

I am not currently receiving any other cancer treatments.

Sorafenib

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of vorinostat when given together with temozolomide in treating patients with malignant gliomas. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vorinostat and temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Vorinostat may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Vorinostat may help temozolomide work better by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. Giving vorinostat together with temozolomide may kill more tumor cells.

Vorinostat and Temozolomide in Treating Patients With Malignant Gliomas

This study is evaluating the side effects and best dose of vorinostat when given together with temozolomide in treating patients with malignant gliomas.

I have a history of cancer or blood cell disorders.

It has been at least 3 weeks since my last radiation therapy.

I haven't had any cancer except for basal or squamous cell skin cancer in the last 5 years.

My condition worsened despite taking temozolomide.

I do not have any active infections or serious illnesses.

I have a condition that affects how drugs are broken down in my body.

I am HIV positive and on antiretroviral therapy.

My hemoglobin level is at least 10 g/dL, transfusions included.

My steroid medication dose has been stable.

I have been diagnosed with a specific type of brain tumor.

I can care for myself but may need occasional help.

My low-grade brain tumor was later found to be cancerous.

Temozolomide

Vorinostat

This randomized phase III trial studies the best individual therapy for women who have node-negative, estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer by using a special test (Oncotype DX), and whether hormone therapy alone or hormone therapy together with combination chemotherapy is better for women who have an Oncotype DX recurrence score of 11-25. Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy may fight breast cancer by blocking the use of estrogen by the tumor cells or by lowering the amount of estrogen the body makes. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving hormone therapy together with more than one chemotherapy drug (combination chemotherapy) has been shown to reduce the chance of breast cancer recurrence, but the benefit of adding chemotherapy to hormone therapy for women with node-negative, estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer is small. New tests may provide information about which patients are more likely to benefit from chemotherapy.

Hormone Therapy With or Without Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Women Who Have Undergone Surgery for Node-Negative Breast Cancer (The TAILORx Trial)

Hormone Therapy + Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer

This study is evaluating whether hormone therapy alone or hormone therapy together with chemotherapy is better for women who have an Oncotype DX recurrence score of 11-25.

I am receiving treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

I am a woman who can have children and am not using birth control.

I had an Oncotype DX test, but my recurrence score wasn't between 11-25.

My cancer is positive for estrogen and/or progesterone receptors.

I have heart issues that prevent me from using certain cancer drugs.

I have had surgery that meets the trial's requirements.

I haven't had chemotherapy or radiation for my cancer.

My tumor is between 5 mm and 5 cm, possibly with aggressive features.

Your bilirubin levels are within a certain range.

I will start treatment within 2 weeks after my surgery or biopsy, unless my doctor advises against it.

Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine sulfate, cisplatin, cyclophosphamide, and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Carboplatin may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. It is not yet known which chemotherapy and radiation therapy regimen is more effective in treating brain tumors.

Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy in Treating Young Patients With Newly Diagnosed, Previously Untreated, High-Risk Medulloblastoma/PNET

Chemotherapy + Radiation for Medulloblastoma

This study is evaluating whether a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy is more effective than either treatment alone in treating young patients with newly diagnosed, previously untreated, high-risk medulloblastoma.

I should be careful with certain kidney-damaging medications.

My cancer has not spread to distant organs (not M4).

I have been newly diagnosed with medulloblastoma and have not received any treatment.

I have a specific type of brain tumor called diffusely anaplastic medulloblastoma.

I am not taking strong drugs that affect liver enzymes.

My seizure medication will be monitored while I receive cisplatin.

I have not had chemotherapy or radiation therapy before.

I am not taking corticosteroids with my chemotherapy.

I have had a brain MRI with contrast before surgery.

My kidney function, measured by creatinine levels, is appropriate for my age and gender.

I have had a head MRI with contrast after surgery.

I have had an MRI of my spine with a special dye.

Radiation Therapy

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the injection of HER2/neu DNA is safe and stimulates an immune response.

The immune system consists of different kinds of cells and substances which help fight against infections and inflammation in the body. These antibodies and T-cells are part of the immune system that may also help to fight against tumor cells. One way to make antibodies and stimulate T-cells is to inject the patient with a preparation which contains material that may stimulate the immune system. This process is called an immunization. We are trying to immunize the patient against HER2/neu. In order to participate in this trial, the tumor must have a large amount of HER2/neu on its surface. The injection that the patient will receive in this trial is a piece of DNA made in bacteria which contains the gene for rat HER2. DNA is material which contains the information needed to produce many substances in the body. The HER2 gene encodes for a protein known as HER2.
