How Ibuprofen works in the bodyIbuprofen works by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase. This enzyme helps create substances called prostaglandins, which cause pain and fever. Ibuprofen stops the production of prostaglandins, which reduces inflammation, pain, fever, and swelling. However, blocking this enzyme can also lead to side effects like stomach ulcers.
