How Motrin Ib Affects PatientsIbuprofen is a painkiller and fever reducer that works by blocking the production of substances that cause inflammation. It is used to alleviate pain, reduce fever, and has been found to help with menstrual cramps, migraines, and swelling in dental procedures. Ibuprofen has also been used to relieve joint pain in those with rheumatic diseases. Low doses of ibuprofen can reduce neurodegeneration and inflammation associated with Parkinson's disease. In some studies, ibuprofen has been linked to a 50% reduction in the rate of breast cancer.
How Motrin Ib works in the bodyIbuprofen is an NSAID, which means it helps reduce pain, fever and swelling by blocking an enzyme involved in making prostaglandins and thromboxanes. This enzyme is called cyclooxygenase, and ibuprofen stops it from working. By stopping this enzyme from working, ibuprofen reduces inflammation, pain, fever, and swelling. Ibuprofen affects both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, with blocking of COX-2 reducing inflammation, and blocking of COX-1 causing some side effects.

The recommended dosage of Motrin Ib is contingent upon the diagnosed state, including smooth muscle relaxation before radiological tests, Catarrh and Pain relief.
