Effectiveness

How Flurbiprofen Affects PatientsFlurbiprofen is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) similar to ibuprofen, fenoprofen, and ketoprofen. It helps reduce inflammation, pain, and fever. It is made up of two parts, the (+)S- and (-) R-enantiomers. The S-enantiomer is more effective in reducing inflammation, while both parts help ease pain.
How Flurbiprofen works in the bodyFlurbiprofen is an anti-inflammatory medication. It works by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase, which is responsible for producing inflammatory molecules called prostaglandins. By blocking this enzyme, flurbiprofen reduces the amount of prostaglandins, which reduces inflammation, pain, swelling and fever. Flurbiprofen is a non-selective and very powerful inhibitor of cyclooxygenase.
