What is Adenocard

AdenosineThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryAdenosine is a prescription medication used to help diagnose heart problems and treat certain types of irregular heartbeats. It was first discovered in 1931 and its effects on the body were studied in the 1940s. Today, it is used less often than other medicines for these conditions, such as dipyridamole and regadenson. Adenosine was approved by the FDA in 1989.

Effectiveness

How Adenocard Affects PatientsAdenosine is used to help with testing for heart problems and to help with fast heart rates. It works quickly, but its effects only last for a short time. People taking adenosine should be aware of the potential side effects, which can include changes to the cardiovascular system, breathing problems, seizures, and allergic reactions.
How Adenocard works in the bodyAgonism of adenosine receptors A1 and A2 can help slow down the heartbeat. This is done by reducing the amount of calcium that enters nerve cells, making it harder to send signals. This makes it harder for the heart to beat too quickly, which can be helpful in treating arrhythmias. Agonism also relaxes the blood vessels, making more room for blood to flow through. This can be especially beneficial for coronary arteries that are not blocked or narrowed.

When to interrupt dosage

The proposed dosage of Adenocard is contingent upon the determined affliction, including Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, inadequate ability to exercise and Myocardial Scintigraphy. The amount likewise changes as per the method of delivery (e.g. Patch or Emulsion - Topical) featured in the table beneath.

Adenocard Toxicity & Overdose RiskAn overdose of adenosine may result in a lack of heartbeat, blocked electrical signals in the heart, or reduced blood flow to the heart. Treatment should include supportive care and, if necessary, a slow injection of theophylline. The lowest toxic dose in mice is greater than 20g/kg when injected under the skin, 500mg/kg when injected into the abdomen, and 39.6µg/kg when injected under the skin.

Adenocard Reviews: What are patients saying about Adenocard?

Adenocard for Having a Rapid Heart Action - Supraventricular Tachycardia
I started feeling a rapid heartbeat about 30-45 minutes after eating 2-3 "grands" biscuits. We called 911 and they gave me 6 mgs of medication. After waiting another 12 mgs, I finally got the relief they expected to see. It was a direct reaction to MSG which we now screen ALL "prepared foods" very closely for.

Adenocard for Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia
I was given this drug during an episode of SVT. This drug actually stops your heart briefly in hope of making it return to a normal rhythm. It is very painful when they administer it. You can feel all of your muscles tense and your chest hurts!

Adenocard for Having a Rapid Heart Action - Supraventricular Tachycardia
I was very pleased with how this medicine worked for me. I had been trying to bring my heart rate down for a couple of hours without success, but as soon as the doctor injected the first dose of Adenocard, I felt relief almost immediately. If I ever need to again, I wouldn't hesitate to use this treatment.

Adenocard for Having a Rapid Heart Action - Supraventricular Tachycardia
This was my first experience with PSVT, and it resolved after a single 6mg dose IV. I only felt weak and tired afterward from the attack and lack of food; otherwise, it was like nothing happened.

Patient Q&A Section about adenocard

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

What happens when you give adenosine?

"When you give adenosine as a quick IV bolus, it slows down the electrical signals that cause your heart to beat. This affects the AV node, which is responsible for electrical signals between the atria and ventricles. The bolus also interrupts the electrical signals that cause SVTs, restoring normal sinus rhythm."

Answered by AI

Is adenosine and Adenocard the same thing?

"Adenosine is injection is a solution that is used to treat irregular heartbeats. It is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution that is injected into a vein. Each mL of the solution contains 3 mg of adenosine and 9 mg of sodium chloride. The pH of the solution is between 4.5 and 7.5."

Answered by AI

What is Adenocard used for?

"Adenocard is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT) and as a diagnostic for Stress Testing. Adenocard may be used alone or with other medications. Adenocard belongs to a class of drugs called Antidysrhythmics."

Answered by AI

Does adenosine stop your heart?

"The side effects of this medication include a temporary slowdown of the heart rate or heart blockage, which may cause a feeling of anxiety or chest pain. Patients should be told about this before taking the medication. Other side effects include low blood pressure and, rarely, prolonged heart blockage or irregular heartbeat."
