Effectiveness

How Lumigan Affects Patients

High eye pressure is dangerous and can lead to vision loss. People with ocular hypertension or glaucoma can have very high levels of eye pressure. Bimatoprost helps to lower eye pressure quickly and reduce the risk of vision loss. It can also cause changes in the color or thickness of the eyelids, iris, and eyelashes. If only one eye is treated with bimatoprost, it may look different than the other eye. Patients should be aware of these potential side effects.

How Lumigan works in the body

Bimatoprost mimics the effects of a natural chemical called prostaglandin F2α. This chemical helps to reduce the pressure in your eye, which protects your optic nerve from damage. Bimatoprost makes it easier for fluid in your eye to drain out, which reduces the pressure. It does not affect the amount of fluid in the eye, only how easily it can flow out.

When to interrupt dosage

The suggested measure of Lumigan is contingent upon the recognized condition, such as Open Angle Glaucoma, Increased Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP) and Eyelash. The amount of dosage alters, in line with the technique of delivery presented in the table below.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

I developed hypertension and severe right shoulder and arm pain after 3 weeks of administering the drops into my right eye. Both urgent care doctor and ophthalmologist say there is no causal relationship, but I, and apparently others disagree. Stopped 2 weeks ago and symptoms very slowly resolving. How long before I am back to normal?

Lumigan for Wide-Angle Glaucoma

This medication has been really effective in reducing my eye pressure. However, I have experienced some strange side effects like ear congestion and swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my body.

After using this product, my eyes were red and bloodshot. It looked like I had been on a bender. This product did not help with pressure at all.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

I've been using Lumigan for over a year and a half now to treat my glaucoma. It's been effective in reducing the pressure in my eyes, though I did have to start using another drop along with it to get the full effect. For side effects, I had red and irritated eyes for the first few weeks but that subsided eventually. Another thing I noticed was that my eyelashes started growing more pronouncedly from about the third month on wards.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

This medication helped me become more alert; however, it also caused some very unpleasant side effects. I frequently woke up in the middle of the night with a painfully dry throat, nose, and eyes. Additionally, I experienced an episode of vertigo that was quite scary.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

I experienced light sensitivity, blurred vision, and increased blood pressure within six weeks of using lumigan eye drops. Even after stopping the medication, I still had these problems two months later. In my opinion, this drug should be taken off the market.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

Lumigan was prescribed to me by a new doctor, and it works better than Xalatan did for lowering eye pressure. The only downside is that I now have a dark spot under one eye, which Lumigan may be responsible for.

Lumigan for Wide-Angle Glaucoma

I've been using Lumigan for five months now, after previously using Xalatan for five years. My pressure is great at 16. The main side effect that bothers me is rapid eye movement, mainly after I instill the drops. My doctor told me it is probably a preservative. I instill the drops an hour before bed. Haven't seen anyone else complain about the rapid eye movement but I would rather be on Xalatan.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

Though this drug did reduce the pressure in my eyes, I found the side effects ( chest pain, shortness of breath, shakiness, eye pain, redness and dizziness) to be not worth it. I switched to more natural measures which work just as well without any negative consequences.

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

This lowered my eye pressure, but unfortunately also caused a lot of irritation. I had to stop taking it for a few days every now and then just to get relief. My wife also made fun of me because my top outer eyelashes were getting really long!

Lumigan for Increased Pressure in the Eye

I've been using Lumigan for five years now. It does help lower the pressure in my eyes, but I've started to experience some nasty side effects. My eyelashes are growing weird and pointing towards my nose. Plus, the skin around my eyes is turning red where the Lumigan drips down. Not a fan anymore.

Lumigan has been helpful in reducing my pressure, however the drops have started to irritate my eyes. This has only been a recent development, although I've been taking the medication for years now.

AI-Based Screening for Glaucoma

18+
All Sexes
Birmingham, AL

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if implementation of an eye screening program at Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinics provides results that participants may have glaucoma, and/or other eye conditions (diabetic retinopathy, cataract, visual acuity impairment). The glaucoma screening will incorporate use of an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted screening tool. This project is called AI-RONA. The main questions it aims to answer are: * How does this eye screening program compare to the rate of glaucoma and other eye conditions detected at other FQHC clinics where the screening program has not been implemented? * Do particpants who screen positive for these conditions adhere to the physician's recommendation for a follow-up examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist? * Are referral rates for a follow-up comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist similar to those implemented by an ophthalmologist using telemedicine (that is, using the results of the screening to make a diagnosis remotely)? * What is the cost-effectiveness of the AI-assisted screening program in diagnosing glaucoma as compared to a physician-guided program? * Are participants completing the screening satisfied with it? * Are physicians at the FQHC clinics administering the screening satisfied with it? Participants will: * Undergo an ocular screening whose goal is to detect glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataract, and/or impairment in visual acuity. If the screening indicates that participants may have these conditions, participants will be referred for a comprehensive eye examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. * Following the screening, participants and physicians will complete a survey on their satisfaction with the program.
