What is Zohydro Er
HydrocodoneThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryHydrocodone is a type of opioid that is used to control moderate to severe pain, usually when combined with acetaminophen. It was formerly used as a cough suppressant, but it is now mostly replaced by dextromethorphan in cough and cold medicines. Hydromorphone, a more powerful version of hydrocodone, is often used for severe pain. The FDA approved it in 1943 for use in the drug Hycodan.

Effectiveness
How Zohydro Er Affects PatientsHydrocodone blocks pain signals from being sent to the brain and spinal cord. As it does this, it can create a feeling of euphoria, slow down breathing, and make you feel drowsy.
How Zohydro Er works in the bodyHydrocodone works by binding to and activating opioid receptors in the body, particularly the mu opioid receptor. This activation causes several changes, such as hyperpolarizing neurons in the spinal cord and preventing the release of neurotransmitters. It also activates reward pathways in the brain, which can lead to addiction. Hydrocodone also affects other opioid receptors, such as the delta opioid receptor, however its effects on these are not well understood. Through these effects, hydrocodone can reduce pain signals and cause sedation and respiratory depression.
When to interrupt dosage
The amount of Zohydro Er is contingent upon the established affliction, including Coughing, Coughing and Chronic Pain. The measure of dosage changes in accordance with the approach of delivery (e.g. Tablet, extended release - Oral or Tablet - Oral) displayed in the table below.Condition

Zohydro Er Reviews: What are patients saying about Zohydro Er?
5Patient Review
2/21/2015 I've been taking this medicine for almost a year and it's helped me out a lot. I only have to take two pills a day as opposed to seven or eight, which is great. The downside is that it's become increasingly difficult to fill my prescription.
5Patient Review
9/25/2014 I was originally prescribed Vicodin for my pain, but I didn't like the way it made me feel. Tylenol had a similar effect on me, so I asked to try this medication instead. Zohydro has been much better for me; I don't feel high or out of sorts, and my pain level is manageable now.
5Patient Review
5/26/2017 I've been dealing with pain for many years, and this treatment has already shown some promise.
4Patient Review
7/16/2015 Spinal fusion led to chronic pain for years. This medication offers me some relief, though sometimes I need to take two at a time. My doctor recently added Norco to my regimen before injections. I have a script card that covers part of the cost, but I dread finding out how much it really costs!
3.3Patient Review
8/27/2015 I was on this medication for five months, and it worked well until they came out with the newly formulated one witch has n-said in it. I noticed the difference right away; it wasn't as effective as the plain ER with more side affects.
2Patient Review
8/20/2017 I was already taking hydrocodone for pain relief, but my doctor switched me to this medication. I haven't found it to be as effective, and now I'm stuck dealing with breakthrough pain on top of that.
1.3Patient Review
11/13/2015 This medication made me incredibly sick, with headaches, nausea, and diarrhea. I have a high tolerance for Hydrocodone, so I'm not sure what was in this that had such an effect on me. I've been living with chronic pain from an incurable condition for years now, and have very limited mobility in one leg. I decided long ago that I didn't want to take anything that would change who I am as a person, which is why I don't even drink alcohol. Hydro has always been the best thing for me in terms of managing my pain. But I can't take this medication because it doesn
1Patient Review
4/7/2017 Not many pharmacies carry this drug, and it's been difficult to find in stock. I personally found that a 10mg hydrocodone was much more effective than the 50mg Zohydro. In my opinion, this medication is not worth the trouble.
1Patient Review
1/2/2019 Hydro seemed to be working better than this treatment, which I found to be totally ineffective.
1Patient Review
11/27/2018 I was very disappointed with this treatment. I didn't experience any relief, even after taking the medication as prescribed. Additionally, the price is quite high for what it does (or rather, doesn't do).
1Patient Review
4/24/2016 I was given this medication before moving to a higher dosage of another treatment. They are awful, didn't provide any pain relief and the cost is outrageous. I'm very disappointed and will be changing to something else.
