How Toradol Affects PatientsKetorolac is a type of non-selective NSAID that works by blocking two types of enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) that are responsible for making prostaglandins in the body. The COX-1 enzyme is active all the time, and can be found in the platelets, stomach lining, and blood vessels. The COX-2 enzyme is triggered when the body is inflamed and causes pain and fever. How Toradol works in the bodyKetorolac works by blocking the pathways that create inflammatory and pain-causing molecules. It is a non-selective inhibitor of both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, but its main effect is through COX-2 inhibition. This enzyme turns arachidonic acid into molecules that cause inflammation and pain. By blocking the pathway, ketorolac reduces inflammation and pain. The "S" enantiomer of ketorolac is largely responsible for its effects.

8/17/2017 I was in the hospital for an ulcerative colitis flare-up when I suddenly developed a migraine at 2am. The pain was unbearable, and nothing - not even morphine via IV - did anything to touch it. Finally, they gave me a dose of Toradol in my IV, and within 15 minutes the pain subsided significantly. I felt like it saved my life.

8/13/2019 Toradol IV is excellent for those with an inflamed pancreas. I normally receive morphine or Dilaudid while hospitalized for flare-ups, but this drug works better and lasts longer. It's definitely worth trying if you're in a lot of pain.
