What is Norco

HydrocodoneThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryHydrocodone is a synthetic opioid used to control pain. It was traditionally used to suppress coughing, but has been replaced with other medications for that purpose. Hydrocodone's more powerful form, hydromorphone, is often used to treat extreme pain. Hydrocodone was first approved by the FDA in 1943 as part of a cough suppressant syrup called Hycodan.

Effectiveness

How Norco Affects PatientsHydrocodone helps to block pain signals from being sent to the brain and spinal cord. It can also have a calming effect, slow down your breathing, and make you drowsy.
How Norco works in the bodyHydrocodone works in the body by binding to opioid receptors, especially the mu opioid receptor. This receptor helps to decrease pain signals and can also inhibit glutamate activity. In the brain, hydrocodone can activate neurons in the reward system, as well as inhibit neurons in the periaquaductal gray. This helps to reduce pain signals and can lead to sedation and respiratory depression. Hydrocodone also binds to the delta opioid receptor, though its effects are not as well understood.

When to interrupt dosage

The encouraged dose of Norco is subject to the indicated condition, including Coughing, Coughing and Chronic Pain. The amount of dosage depends on the mode of delivery (e.g. Tablet, extended release - Oral or Tablet - Oral) featured in the following table.

Norco Toxicity & Overdose RiskTaking too much hydrocodone can lead to symptoms of opioid overdose, like shallow breathing, drowsiness, muscle weakness, cold and clammy skin, constricted pupils, water in the lungs, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, and blocked airways. To treat this, it is important to keep the airway clear and provide help with breathing if needed. Other treatments may include fluids and oxygen through an IV, or medicines to control the heart rate and blood pressure. A medicine called naloxone can be used to reverse the effects of hydrocodone, but medical attention should still be sought after. In opioid

Norco for Pain
This pill is a catch-all for my various pains. I have compression fractures, arthritis, and restless leg syndrome. 1/2 a pill in the morning usually does the trick, but sometimes I need to take a full 5mg at night.

Norco for Pain
Norco has been a part of my life for a few years now. I find that not only does it help me sleep better, but I also have more energy during the day when I take it. Some nights I don't even need to take it at all; however, on the nights that I do, it allows me to get comfortable and fall asleep quickly without any tossing and turning from pain.

I've had several surgeries and I have a hard time taking anything for pain. I usually had severe pain after taking regular hydrocodone. It usually hurts my stomach really bad. NORCO helps but it gives me trouble falling asleep

Norco for Pain
I've been using this medication for a couple of years now to help manage the pain in my back. I take it twice a day, and while it doesn't completely eliminate the pain, it does dull it to a more manageable level. I'm glad to have found something that works for me without making me feel 'high'.

Norco for Pain
Norco was prescribed to me in 7.5mg doses after oral surgery to remove 14 teeth. I was told to take one every 4-6 hours, but it doesn't seem to help very much. It also makes me nauseated and the effects don't last long. Ibuprofen seems to work better for me.

I was prescribed this medication to help with the pain of a four-day migraine, but it only made me feel high and sleepy. The migraine was still there when I woke up.

Norco for Pain
Loritab was much more effective for pain relief than this medication, in my opinion. I've talked to other people who have had to switch from Loritab to this, and they feel the same way. Not sure if it's the binders or what, but something about this formulation just doesn't work as well.

Norco for Pain
This barely did anything for my pain, and unfortunately caused me a lot of anxiety. I had to cut back on the dosage significantly (1-2 every 4-6 hours) and I'm still in pain. Additionally, this has made it difficult for me to sleep due to respiratory issues.

Norco for Pain
I was prescribed this for pain due to neck spurs. The first time I took it, I had no side effects. However, the next time I took it (just 12 hours later), I experienced vomiting and lightheadedness that lasted all day long. While the medicine helped with the pain, the side effects were horrible.

Norco for Pain
The side effects were really unpleasant. I had a bad headache and constipation. I don't see how people could get addicted to this drug because it didn't provide any euphoria and the side effects were almost as bad as the pain I took it to stop. Ear infections are no joke, so I'm glad I finally stopped taking the medication.

Unfortunately, this medication was ineffective for me. Not only did it fail to address the pain, but I also felt groggy and had headaches while taking it. Overall, I would not recommend this drug.

I was in a motorcycle accident and took this medication for the pain. It did nothing to help me, not even with the bruises and scrapes. I followed the instructions on taking it every four to six hours, but it made no difference.

Walgreens has been giving out fake or inferior pain medication since 2018. I'm considering not paying for Part D insurance and moving out of the country.

What is Norco used for?

"This medication is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It is a combination of an opioid pain reliever (hydrocodone) and a non-opioid pain reliever (acetaminophen)."

Answered by AI

Is Norco just Tylenol?

"This medication is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain when over-the-counter medicines have not worked. However, it can lead to dependence and tolerance if taken for a long time."

Answered by AI

Is tramadol the same thing as Norco?

"Tramadol is a different type of narcotic analgesic and works differently from other narcotic pain relievers.

Are Tramadol and Norco the Same Thing?

Norco (hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen) and tramadol are both narcotic (opioid) pain relievers (analgesics) used to treat moderate to fairly severe pain. However, tramadol is a different type of narcotic analgesic and works differently from other narcotic pain relievers. Norco also contains acetaminophen, a non-narcotic pain reliever (analgesic)."
