Treatment SummaryMiconazole is an antifungal medication used to treat yeast infections of the mouth and vagina. It also has some activity against certain types of bacteria. It is available as a variety of products, including suppositories, creams, gels, and tablets. Miconazole works by inhibiting the activity of a fungal enzyme called CYP450 14α-lanosterol demethylase. It was first approved by the FDA in 1974 and is still used today. Resistance to miconazole is relatively rare.

How Monistat 3 Affects PatientsMiconazole is an antifungal medication that works by blocking an enzyme in the body. It is usually applied directly to the skin, and very little of it enters the bloodstream. Most people do not have side effects, but some may experience allergic reactions or anaphylaxis. People using this medication vaginally should not rely on birth control or tampons to prevent pregnancy or infection.
How Monistat 3 works in the bodyMiconazole works in three main ways to fight fungal infections caused by Candida. Firstly, it stops the fungus from making a protective covering that helps it survive. Secondly, it stimulates the production of chemicals within the cell that cause it to die. Lastly, it prevents the fungus from forming biofilms, which are resistant to antibiotics. It does this by stopping the fungus from changing into its more resilient form.

If you overdose on miconazole, seek medical attention and take symptomatic and supportive measures. In rats, the lowest dose of miconazole that has been known to be toxic is 500mg/kg.

Monistat 3 day worked great for me! I followed the instructions and inserted it before bed. The redness went away after the first dose, and the swelling and itching after the second. I felt 100% better and took the third dose as a precautionary measure. I would highly recommend this product to anyone experiencing similar issues.

This treatment really works. I've experienced many yeast infections over the years and this medication has worked for me just as well as a pill from the doctor. I've even had my doctor recommend Monistat to me when the pill didn't work. There is some uncomfortable itching and the annoyance of having to wear a liner because of discharge, but it beats a yeast infection.

Monistat has been just as effective for me as a pill from the doctor, if not more so. I've even had my doctor recommend it to me in the past when other treatments haven't worked. The itching can be a bit uncomfortable and there's also the discharge to deal with, but it's still preferable to a yeast infection.
