Povidone iodine is a type of disinfectant that works by making proteins in the body stop working, which leads to the death of harmful microorganisms. It is effective at killing viruses, bacteria, and other organisms with low risk to humans. Examples of such organisms include Staphylococcus aureus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, syphilis, hepatitis B virus, HIV, and Trichomonas vaginalis. How Lodine works in the body

Povidone-iodine works by releasing iodine, which then enters cells and disrupts the proteins and nucleic acids that make them up. This causes the cells to become denatured and deactivated. Iodine also has anti-inflammatory effects, such as reducing the release of inflammatory mediators like TNF-α and β-galactosidase, and inhibiting the production of metalloproteinase. It can also help the healing process by activating monocytes, T-lymphocytes, and macrophages.

I was prescribed Lodine by my orthopedic doctor after my meniscus tear surgery, for both pain and swelling. I didn't realize how much it was helping me until my insurance changed and it was no longer covered. Once I ran out and had to go without, the difference was painfully clear. I've been taking etodolac for almost two years now to manage chronic arthritis and fibromyalgia pain. It's one of the few NSAIDS that doesn't make my heart race, and I find it effective most of the time when used in combination with cymbalta.

My bulging disc was giving me a lot of pain, but after three weeks of shots from my orthopedic doctor, the pain started to come back. I experienced some side effects in the first week of taking this drug for my knee calcification, including a funny taste in my mouth and feeling edgy and moody. However, by the 10th day, these had mostly dissipated but the drug was still effective.

Though this drug numbed the pain, it also caused rashes to form on different parts of my body. These were no small bumps either; we're talking large welts that took some time to go away. Thankfully, Aveeno baths seemed to help a little bit.
