Effectiveness

How Latuda Affects PatientsLurasidone is a drug that binds strongly to dopamine-2, serotonin-2A, and serotonin-7 receptors, and moderately to alpha-2C adrenergic receptors. It also has a slight effect on histamine and muscarinic receptors.
How Latuda works in the bodyLurasidone is a type of medication used to treat psychosis. It works by blocking the effects of both serotonin and dopamine on the brain, which can help reduce symptoms of psychosis and decrease side effects like muscle spasms.

Latuda for Schizophrenia With Mood Changes
Once this medicine balanced itself out, I noticed a significant improvement in my condition. I was previously allergic to captyla and Seroquel, but this medication is in a related family and didn't give me the same problems. You will need to take a stimulant with this medication to produce dopamine.

Latuda for Schizophrenia With Mood Changes
When I first started taking this medicine, it seemed to make things worse. But after a little while, it evened out and I actually became really sharp. I'm allergic to captyla and Seroquel but this is in the same family-- just a different class. You'll need to take a stimulant with this medication to produce dopamine.

Latuda for Bipolar Depression
Out of all the antipsychotics I've tried to treat my bipolar disorder and substance use disorder, Latuda (120mg) has been the most effective. It's helped with my mood swings, focusing, and cravings for drugs and alcohol. If it weren't for this medication, I don't know where I'd be today.

Latuda for Bipolar Depression
Out of all the antipsychotics I've tried to treat my Bipolar Disorder and Substance Use Disorder, Latuda (120mg) has been by far the most effective. My mood swings are much better controlled, I can focus again without needing ADHD medication, and my cravings for drugs and alcohol have almost entirely gone away. When I started taking this medication I was 26 years old. Today, at 29 years old, I am clean and sober and doing much better thanks to Latuda.

Latuda for Bipolar Depression
I've found that Latuda is a really good drug for me. I'm usually not compliant with medications because they tend to sedate me, but I haven't had that issue with this one. It's helped stabilize me and I usually don't experience too many side effects from it. The only thing is that sometimes it gives me insomnia, but other than that it's been great!

Latuda for Bipolar Depression
Latuda has been a really good drug for me. I'm usually pretty noncompliant when it comes to medication because I've had drugs in the past that just numb me out. But Latuda hasn't sedated me at all. I feel pretty stable on it most of the time. The only downside is that it gives me a little bit of insomnia. But other than that, it's been great!

Latuda for Bipolar Depression
I experienced awful tremors while taking this medication. It helped stabilize my mood for a short period of time, but every few nights I would have uncontrollable arm movements and restlessness that kept me awake for hours on end. Additionally, it's quite expensive.

I had a terrible experience with this drug. I felt restless and exhausted at the same time, which made it hard to focus or get anything done. All I wanted was to lay in bed and hope the feeling would go away.

The tremors this caused were really bad. They helped stabilize my mood for a short while, but then I'd have these uncontrollable arm movements that kept me up all night long. And it's so expensive! If it weren't for the side effects, I would've liked it much better.

Latuda for Bipolar Depression
This drug has caused me a lot of problems. I've had panic attacks, trouble catching my breath, excessive sweating, muscle pain and cramping, and spasms in my pelvic area. I've also been feeling dizzy and nauseous. So far, there's been no change in mood. I'm really worried that this drug will kill people if they keep taking it.

fMRI for Cognitive Flexibility

All Sexes
Iowa City, IA
The goal of this basic experimental research study is to examine how the human thalamus supports flexible thinking and behavior. Specifically, the research aims to elucidate how the mediodorsal (MD) thalamus encodes and updates "context"-the mental framework that determines which rules or actions are relevant in a given situation. This work may contribute to understanding why certain psychiatric conditions, such as schizophrenia and ADHD, involve difficulties with cognitive flexibility and control. The primary research questions are: Does the MD thalamus represent the context that organizes how working memory guides task selection? Does the MD thalamus signal when context needs to be updated after a change in task demands? Do these thalamic representations support generalization to new situations or rules? Participants will complete cognitive tasks while undergoing high-resolution brain imaging using 7-Tesla MRI. The investigators will combine behavioral data, computational modeling, and advanced neuroimaging analyses to examine how the thalamus interacts with the cortex during flexible decision-making.

Little Rock, AR
Schizophrenia is a common and severe psychiatric illness characterized by extreme disturbances of cognition and thought, affecting language, perception and sense of self. This study will assess adverse events, change in disease activity, and how oral emraclidine moves through the body in adult participants with schizophrenia Emraclidine is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of schizophrenia. Participants are placed in one of two parts, Part A or Part B, where each group will receive a different treatment. Participants will receive either oral emraclidine or placebo. Approximately 258 participants will be enrolled across roughly 32 sites in the United States. Participants in Part A will be assigned to one of multiple ascending doses of emraclidine or placebo administered orally for 14 days or up to 21 days. Participants in Part B will receive Emraclidine or placebo administered orally for up to 42 days. Participants will be followed for 30 days after the last dose of the study drug. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

The purpose of this study is to understand how different types of community-based mental health care affect thinking abilities, daily functioning, and brain activity in adults with schizophrenia and related conditions. The investigators are especially interested in learning whether the Clubhouse Model-a structured, supportive community for individuals with mental illness-has unique benefits compared to standard outpatient mental health services. If participants decide to join, they will be asked to complete a total of six study visits with the research team over the course of your participation. Three of these study visits are at the beginning (baseline) and the remaining three are six months later. Two of the three visits will includes interviews, questionnaires, and thinking and memory tasks (cognitive testing) and one session will be an MRI brain scan, which is a safe and non-invasive imaging procedure. The total time required for each visit will be approximately 90 minutes to two hours. Participants may take breaks as needed.
