What is Hydrodiuril

HydrochlorothiazideThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryHydrochlorothiazide is a commonly prescribed medication used to treat swelling and high blood pressure. Although it is still used, it is becoming less popular as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers become more popular options. There are multiple combination products available that contain hydrochlorothiazide and either an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor or an angiotensin II receptor blocker. Hydrochlorothiazide was approved by the FDA in 1959.

Effectiveness

How Hydrodiuril Affects PatientsHydrochlorothiazide helps your body remove more water by blocking the reabsorption of sodium and water from the distal convoluted tubule. This drug can be taken in doses ranging from 25-100mg, depending on the patient's individual needs. People with reduced kidney or liver function should use this drug with caution.
How Hydrodiuril works in the bodyHydrochlorothiazide helps lower blood pressure by blocking sodium reabsorption in the kidneys. It does this by binding to an organic anion transporter, which carries it into kidney cells. There, it binds to a protein that helps transport it into the lumen of the tubule. Hydrochlorothiazide then blocks a molecule that helps move sodium and chloride into kidney cells, reducing the concentration difference between them and the tubule, which reduces water reabsorption.

When to interrupt dosage

The proposed dose of Hydrodiuril is contingent upon the determined disorder, including Antepartum magnesium sulfate prophylaxis, inadequate blood pressure control with monotherapy and antihypertensives. The quantity of dosage is contingent upon the approach of administration (e.g. Tablet, coated - Oral or Oral) as expressed in the subsequent table.
