Effectiveness
How Cardizem La Affects Patients
Diltiazem is a medication that lowers blood pressure and relaxes the blood vessels. It does this by blocking calcium from entering the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. By doing this, it helps reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. In studies, taking diltiazem was found to lower the diastolic blood pressure by up to 8.6 mmHg in people with high blood pressure, and improved exercise tolerance in those with chronic stable angina. It has also been suggested that diltiazem may provide a protective effect against stroke in those with hypertension.
How Cardizem La works in the body
Diltiazem works by blocking calcium from entering the cells in the heart and blood vessels. This reduces the amount of calcium available in the cells and allows the muscles to relax. As a result, blood pressure decreases, oxygen delivery to the heart increases, and the heart's workload is reduced. This leads to improved exercise tolerance and improved heart health.
When to interrupt dosage
The advocated measure of Cardizem La is dependent upon the diagnosed illness, including prophylaxis of migraine headaches, Fissure;Anal and Anginal Pain. The amount of dosage fluctuates as per the delivery approach noted in the table beneath.

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.
What does Cardizem LA stand for?
"Generic diltiazem hydrochloride is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain heart rhythm disorders."
Answered by AI
What is the difference between Cardizem CD and LA?
"Unlike other diltiazem formulations that are taken once a day, CARDIZEM® LA is a tablet formulation. Its pharmacokinetic profile differs from that of CARDIZEM® CD, another extended-release formulation of diltiazem, in that it has a smoother drug-release profile with a "one-peak" plasma concentration time curve."
Answered by AI
Is Cardizem LA long acting?
"Make sure to tell all of your health care providers that you take Cardizem LA (diltiazem long-acting tablets). This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists. Avoid driving or doing other tasks that require you to be alert until you see how Cardizem LA (diltiazem long-acting tablets) affects you."
Answered by AI
Is diltiazem ER the same as Cardizem LA?
"Diltiazem is a medication used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain by relaxing blood vessels and decreasing the workload of the heart. It is part of a group of medications known as calcium channel blockers."
