How Upneeq Affects Patients

Oxymetazoline is a type of drug that works by narrowing the blood vessels and reducing blood flow. It is particularly effective at stimulating two types of adrenergic receptors, the α1- and α2-adrenergic receptors. This drug can be used to relieve nasal congestion and improve airflow in the nose, with effects lasting up to 12 hours. It also has anti-oxidant properties which may protect against tissue damage from inflammation.

How Upneeq works in the body

Oxymetazoline works by targeting certain types of receptors in the body. It stimulates alpha 1A-adrenergic receptors, which can reduce the facial redness associated with rosacea. In blepharoptosis, it stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors in the Muller muscle, which causes the eyelid to lift up. It is also used in combination with tetracaine to numb areas of the body for dental procedures. I really enjoy this product, but there are a few things to be aware of. Firstly, it can be tough to open the packaging; I use small scissors. Secondly, if you use it every day it can get costly; I save money by only using it for parties or other social functions. The upside is that the lid lift is great and my eyes look incredibly white. It also lasts for six hours without any discomfort or side effects. Additionally, the onset is very fast – within 5-10 minutes – and improves my field of vision.

I got droopy eyelids after Botox, and this helped to fix that problem to some degree. Although, I have high blood pressure which made me feel really jittery after taking it. So be careful if you have any heart conditions.

Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an anti-fibrinolytic agent developed in the 1960s that has been safely used to reduce blood loss, transfusion rates and bleeding-associated mortality in trauma, obstetrics and orthopedic surgery, including hip fracture care and arthroplasty. The efficacy and safety profile of TXA has been extensively studied in numerous clinical trials and observational studies. Its wide range of applications, combined with its favourable risk-benefit ratio, has led to the incorporation of TXA into clinical guidelines and protocols worldwide. This RCT aims to compare the current standard dosing for TXA to additional TXA doses given orally post-operatively for THA and TKA patients. The goal is to compare the following between study groups: visible bleeding on post-operative dressing, mobilization (steps, amount of time moving around), pain (visual analog scale), function (Oxford hip and knee scales) and ROM at four to six weeks.
