How Serophene Affects Patients
Clomifene is a drug taken by mouth to help cause ovulation. It can increase the chance of having twins, as well as causing weight gain and having a possible link to ovarian cancer. When taken, it works by causing hormones in the body to be released, leading to an increase in estrogen, which then causes an egg to be released. After ovulation, the levels of estrogen and progesterone will rise and fall like in a normal cycle.
How Serophene works in the body
Clomifene helps to trigger the release of hormones that lead to the development of an egg and its release from the ovary. It also works to reduce the influence of estrogen in the brain and uterus, which can lead to increased production of stimulatory hormones. Clomifene does not appear to interact with other hormones in the body and is not known to have any progestational, androgenic, or antiandrogenic effects.
