Effectiveness

How Norinyl Affects PatientsNorethisterone is a type of synthetic hormone that is taken orally to help with contraception, menopausal symptoms, and endometriosis. It is more powerful than the hormone progesterone that is naturally produced in the body. Norethisterone works by changing how cervical and endometrial tissues work, as well as by blocking other hormones involved in ovulation. Taking norethisterone may increase your risk of developing breast cancer, so it is important to do regular breast self-exams.
How Norinyl works in the bodyNorethisterone works in the body by binding to progesterone receptors in different areas, like the reproductive tract, pituitary, hypothalamus, and nervous system. As a contraceptive, it makes the cervical mucus thicker and harder for sperm to travel, as well as making the uterus less hospitable for implantation. It also suppresses the release of hormones that stimulate follicle development, preventing ovulation. In menopausal women, norethisterone prevents endometrial hyperplasia, which can reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. It also has low affinity for other steroid receptors, but may still have

Norinyl for Birth Control
I was put on this brand of birth control because I wasn't satisfied with my last brand. Norinyl is easy to use, like other pills but I have had severe discomfort and tenderness in my breasts from this medication. My doctor has switched me to Ortho TriCyclin Lo. Hoping it will help.

Norinyl for Birth Control
I love how light and short my periods are on this medication! I didn't experience any cramping, either. However, I tried another pill for a couple months and noticed that my period was much heavier and longer. So, I'm glad to be back on this one!

Norinyl for Birth Control
I've been taking Norinyl for over four years now, and I haven't experienced any adverse effects that I'm aware of. My periods are light and painless, which is a huge plus. Overall, I highly recommend this medication to others seeking similar results.

Norinyl for Abnormally Long or Heavy Periods
I stopped getting heavy periods, but only when I just took the white pills. If I also took the pink pills, I would get terrible headaches, pain in my lower abdomen, and diarrhea.

Norinyl for Birth Control
I've been on this birth control for over ten years and it's really great. I don't spot or bleed between periods, and I rarely have cramping. The only downside is that my breasts can get tender, but it's nothing too bad.

Norinyl for Birth Control
The only problem I have with this pill is that it makes my skin extremely oily, and therefore makes me break out. Very strange, considering I've been on Nortrel and Necon which is the same hormones and dosage. But it's awful. Aside from that, no side effects and I've experienced shorter, less painful periods. 3 months and no change, so I will be switching to something else soon due to my face though.

Norinyl for Birth Control
I've been using this birth control for six years, and I only recently realized that it was the cause of my depression. I would always get tired and lose interest in things, but as soon as I stopped taking the pill, those symptoms disappeared. My sex drive also increased when I wasn't on the pill. So while it's effective at preventing pregnancy, I think it has a major impact on hormones.

Norinyl for Birth Control
I started taking this medication for various reasons, including an ovarian cyst, acne and birth control. It was very effective in controlling all of these issues. However, I stopped taking it because it made me feel depressed, aggressive and paranoid.
