What is Dexilant Solutab

DexlansoprazoleThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryDexlansoprazole is a type of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosion of the esophagus. Unlike other PPIs, dexlansoprazole is released in two phases at different pH values and times, providing two peak concentrations in the blood within 1-2 hours and 4-5 hours after dosing. This helps prevent breakthrough symptoms and the need for meal-associated dosing. Dexlansoprazole works by inhibiting the (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme, which is involved in

Effectiveness

How Dexilant Solutab Affects PatientsDexlansoprazole is a type of drug that helps reduce acid production in the stomach. It works by blocking the enzyme that produces acid in the stomach (H+, K+)-ATPase, which can reduce symptoms of heartburn and other acid-related issues.
How Dexilant Solutab works in the bodyDexlansoprazole works by inhibiting the enzyme that helps control the amount of acid produced in the stomach. This enzyme, known as H/K ATPase, is activated when it comes into contact with an acidic environment. Dexlansoprazole binds to the SH groups of the enzyme and prevents it from transporting hydrogen ions into the stomach, which reduces the amount of acid produced. Dexlansoprazole also has a special delivery system that releases 25% of the drug dose in the upper part of the small intestine and 75% in the lower part. This helps reduce both basal and stimulated gastric acid production.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
I took this medication for years, but then started to experience bad stomach pains and heart palpitations. I stopped taking it about a year ago and have been doing fine since. I sleep with my bed raised up and drink more water, and am careful of the foods I eat.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
This medicine is awesome! Even though it's expensive, it works! I haven't experienced all of the side effects mentioned except for being very hungry at night. I'd rather experience that than the other symptoms I had before taking it. I had a really bad, chronic cough for months and nothing worked.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
Though it is expensive, this medicine definitely works and is worth the price. I experienced an increase in appetite at night, but that's a minor side effect compared to the benefits. This treatment finally helped me after months of chronic coughing with no relief from other medicines.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
I've been taking dexilant for eight months and have put on 22 pounds. I think this is because the medication slows down digestion by turning off stomach acid. It's better than nothing, but the weight gain has been really tough to deal with.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
I've been taking dexilant for eight months now. I have noticed that I experience dizziness or lightheadedness as a side effect, but the medication is better than nothing. In the past eight months, I have gained 22 pounds. My theory is that the dexilant is turning off too much stomach acid and causing food to sit inside longer and digest more slowly. This weight gain has caused me to buy new clothes and feel ashamed of my appearance in public.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
This medication was great for the acid, but after taking it for a few months I started having severe pain under my right ribs. My gallbladder was normal on the ultrasound, so I stopped taking the Dexilant and my symptoms went away immediately.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
Initial results were promising and I only had to take the medication once a day instead of the twice daily dosage of other PPIs. However, I developed such severe diarrhea that I now have hemorrhoids. The side effects are not worth it, so I stopped taking this drug.

Dexilant Solutab for Condition in which Stomach Acid is Pushed Into the Esophagus
This medication was great for the acid reflux I was experiencing. However, after taking it for a few months, I started having severe pain in my upper abdomen. I thought it might be my gallbladder, but an ultrasound showed that everything was normal. Once I stopped taking the Dexilant, my symptoms went away almost immediately. Now, I only take it when I'm feeling really bad and try to use it as sparingly as possible.

This treatment worked well for my GERD, and I only needed to take it once a day. However, the diarrhea side effect was so bad that I developed hemorrhoids. So I'm no longer taking this medication - the side effects are not worth the pain.

I was prescribed Dexilant 60MG once a day to eliminate acid entering the esophagus. It worked fine for the first 3 1/2 months but then I started getting symptoms of severe headache, confusion, brain fog and stomach pains. My PCP made the assumption it was stress and anxiety when in fact it was the dexilant. I stopped taking it and now have no symptoms!

I initially noticed a reduction in the burning sensation I felt in my chest. However, after only a week of taking dexilant, I started to experience pain around my left ribs and an intense feeling of hunger. Additionally, I found myself becoming more anxious and irritable--which are definitely not qualities that describe me normally. Thankfully, since discontinuing use of the medication three days ago, these side effects have begun to subside.
