How Locoid Lipocream Affects Patients
Hydrocortisone is a steroid hormone necessary for life. It regulates many body functions, such as blood pressure, metabolism, immune system, and homeostasis. Hydrocortisone is used to treat inflammation caused by skin conditions. It reduces inflammation by stopping the body from producing certain proteins (cytokines) that cause inflammation. These proteins are called IL-1, IL-2, IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-alpha. Hydrocortisone also reduces the production of another protein (IL-2) that is involved
How Locoid Lipocream works in the body
Hydrocortisone works to reduce inflammation by stopping the production of molecules that cause inflammation. It does this by binding to a receptor in cells, then travelling to the cell nucleus and activating genes that suppress inflammation. It also prevents an enzyme from coming into contact with a molecule that helps create inflammation-causing molecules. This stops the production of these molecules, which reduces inflammation. Additionally, hydrocortisone suppresses the immune system by decreasing the amount of antibodies and disrupting the binding of antigens to antibodies. It also reduces the function of the lymphatic system, which is a key part of the immune response.
