How Corzide Affects Patients
Nadolol is a type of medication used to lower blood pressure. It is usually taken once per day, and the amount of medication prescribed can range from 40mg to 240mg daily. When taking nadolol, it is important that you do not suddenly stop taking it as this can worsen a heart condition.
How Corzide works in the body
Nadolol works to reduce blood pressure by blocking beta-1 and beta-2 adrenoceptors in the heart, reducing the strength of contractions and the speed of relaxation and conduction. Nadolol also causes an increase in peripheral vascular resistance, which may contribute to a decrease in insulin sensitivity. In the kidney, nadolol blocks renin and angiotensin II release, reducing water retention. It also inhibits the release of epinephrine, as well as glycogenolysis, bronchodilation, and insulin release in the liver, lungs, and pancreas respectively.
When to interrupt dosage
The endorsed dosage of Corzide is contingent upon the recognized condition, such as Chest Pain, Atrial Fibrillation and Thyrotoxicosis. The quantity of dosage varies, as per the form of administration featured in the table hereunder.

Corzide Toxicity & Overdose Risk
The toxic dose of the drug in mice is 4500mg/kg. Those who overdose may experience a slow heartbeat, heart failure, low blood pressure, and spasms in the lungs. Treatment for this includes atropine for the slow heartbeat, digitalis and diuretics for heart failure, medications to raise blood pressure, and drugs that help relax the lungs, as well as cleaning out the stomach and using dialysis.
