It is important to inform patients about the risk of exposing children to testosterone topical products.
How Androgel works in the bodyThe androgen receptor is a protein that helps the body respond to androgens, like testosterone. It binds to androgens, then carries them into the nucleus of cells, where they can start to create changes. In men, testosterone helps create male sex organs, like the prostate and scrotum. It also causes secondary sexual characteristics like facial hair and body hair.
