How Androgel Affects Patients
Testosterone helps to build and develop masculine sex organs and characteristics. Its effects last for different amounts of time for different people, with a half-life of 10-100 minutes. Testosterone levels in an adult male are typically between 300-1000ng/dL. It is important to inform patients about the risk of exposing children to testosterone topical products.
How Androgel works in the body
The androgen receptor is a protein that helps the body respond to androgens, like testosterone. It binds to androgens, then carries them into the nucleus of cells, where they can start to create changes. In men, testosterone helps create male sex organs, like the prostate and scrotum.
