Effectiveness
How Travatan Affects Patients
Travoprost is a type of medication that helps reduce eye pressure. It is a synthetic form of a natural substance in the body (prostaglandin F2 alpha) and is quickly broken down to its active form when applied to the eyes. This active form is very powerful and attaches to certain receptors in the eyes, reducing eye pressure.
How Travatan works in the body
Travoprost helps to reduce pressure in the eyes. It works by binding to a receptor and allowing aqueous humour to flow out more easily. This process starts two hours after a dose and is at its strongest after 12 hours. The effects last for more than 24 hours with a single dose.
When to interrupt dosage
The amount of Travatan is contingent upon the identified condition, including Open Angle Glaucoma, Ocular Hypertension and Increased Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP). The dosage likewise depends upon the technique of delivery (e.g. Solution or Ophthalmic) noted in the following table.
