Effectiveness

How Metoprolol Tartrate Affects PatientsWhen used correctly, metoprolol can help slow down the heart rate and reduce the amount of oxygen the heart needs to function. It has also been used to treat arrhythmia and has been found to reduce sudden cardiac death and heart attack in individuals who have had a heart attack. In clinical trials performed in 1990, taking metoprolol long-term after a heart attack reduced mortality and re-infarction by 17%.
How Metoprolol Tartrate works in the bodyMetoprolol is a medication that works to decrease the activity of certain receptors in the heart, resulting in a reduced heart rate and lower blood pressure. It does not affect other parts of the body, such as the nervous system or muscle cells.

Metoprolol Tartrate for High Blood Pressure
I've gained 30lbs in the last three months, mostly around my waist. My tinnitus has gotten worse, I have no energy, and I'm feeling depressed. The doctor says everything is okay, but I don't think they're listening to me at all. I want to get off this medication; at 72, I think I know my body better than anyone else does.
