What is Lazanda

FentanylThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryFentanyl is a powerful pain medication that was developed in the 1950s. It is often used to manage chronic cancer pain or provide anesthesia. Fentanyl is related to other opioids such as morphine and oxycodone. It is also frequently used as an illegal drug mixed with heroin, which has caused a high number of overdose deaths in the United States and Canada. Fentanyl was approved by the FDA in 1968.

Effectiveness

How Lazanda Affects PatientsFentanyl is a powerful painkiller that activates opioid receptors. It can last for several hours and can be used safely by patients who have built up a tolerance to opioids. However, it can lead to addiction and should never be combined with alcohol or benzodiazepines.
How Lazanda works in the bodyFentanyl works by binding to opioid receptors in the body, particularly the mu opioid receptor. When this happens, it triggers a reaction in the body that decreases the use of a chemical called cAMP. This in turn lowers the amount of calcium ions entering the cell, leading to the cell becoming more polarized and nerve activity being inhibited.

When to interrupt dosage

The prescribed measure of Lazanda is contingent upon the determined condition, such as Anesthesia, Conduction, Preanesthetic Medication and General Anesthesia. The extent of dosage fluctuates, in line with the method of delivery as outlined in the table below.
