How Lazanda Affects PatientsFentanyl is a powerful painkiller that activates opioid receptors. It can last for several hours and can be used safely by patients who have built up a tolerance to opioids. However, it can lead to addiction and should never be combined with alcohol or benzodiazepines.
How Lazanda works in the bodyFentanyl works by binding to opioid receptors in the body, particularly the mu opioid receptor. When this happens, it triggers a reaction in the body that decreases the use of a chemical called cAMP. This in turn lowers the amount of calcium ions entering the cell, leading to the cell becoming more polarized and nerve activity being inhibited.

Lazanda Toxicity & Overdose RiskFentanyl is toxic to rats, with an intravenous toxicity of 2.91mg/kg and an oral toxicity of 18mg/kg in rats and 368mg/kg in mice. The toxicity of fentanyl in humans is unknown. Overdosing on fentanyl may cause difficulty breathing, sleepiness, extreme tiredness, cold skin, small pupils, coughing up fluid, slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, snoring, and even death. In cases of overdose, naloxone or nalmefene should be administered and extra support should be provided to keep the airway open, or advanced life-support in case
