How Dodex Affects PatientsCyanocobalamin helps to treat vitamin B12 deficiency. It helps with growth, cell reproduction, making red blood cells and proteins, as well as breaking down fats and carbohydrates. Vitamin B12 is especially important for cells that divide quickly, like those in the bone marrow and digestive system. When given through a needle, cyanocobalamin can quickly reverse the anemia and other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency. Taking it through a nasal spray can also help keep the vitamin B12 levels in the body in the right range.
How Dodex works in the bodyVitamin B12 helps the body in many ways. It works with enzymes to create DNA, break down fat and protein, and convert certain molecules. It also helps make methionine, which is needed for many bodily processes like creating hormones and other substances. Without enough vitamin B12, the body cannot make enough methionine, so folate can't be regenerated. This can lead to a folate deficiency and anemia. Vitamin B12 helps incorporate folate into growing red blood cells, so a lack of it can lead to anemia.

BurstDR Spinal Cord Stimulation for Diabetic Neuropathy

This prospective, single-arm clinical study evaluates the therapeutic efficacy and feasibility of BurstDR spinal cord stimulation (SCS) using Abbott's Proclaim XR and Eterna systems in patients with painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN). Adults with confirmed PDN will undergo a one-week temporary SCS trial, and those achieving meaningful improvement (≥50% reduction in average pain on the Visual Analog Scale) will proceed to permanent implantation. Outcomes will be assessed at baseline, end of trial, and at 1-, 3-, and 6-month follow-up visits using validated instruments including VAS, DN4, DQoL, PSQ-3, the Patient Global Impression of Change, and the Clinician Global Impression of Change. All procedures follow standard clinical practice for SCS therapy. The study aims to characterize real-world effectiveness, patient-reported outcomes, feasibility of implementation, and device-related safety in a rural PDN population.

Nutritional Supplement for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth

The goal of this trial is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of an 8-week, multi-component nutritional supplement (AV1PD1A) in adults with hydrogen-dominant small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). The main questions the study aims to answer are: 1. Is the product safe and well-tolerated over 8 weeks, as measured by bloodwork, vital signs, and adverse effects? 2. How many participants adhere to the intervention without a dose modification, hold, or discontinuation? Exploratory questions include: do GI symptoms and quality of life ratings improve, and do hydrogen/methane levels on lactulose breath testing change from baseline to week 8? There is no comparison group; this is a prospective, open-label, single-arm pilot trial (n=10). Participants will: * Be screened and confirmed to have hydrogen-dominant SIBO by lactulose breath test (with 24-hour prep diet and overnight fast). * Take AV1PD1A, three capsules daily for 8 weeks. * Attend three clinic visits at baseline, week 4, and week 8 for vital measurements, fasting blood draws, and adverse event checks. * Complete questionnaires on symptoms and quality of life. * Repeat the lactulose breath test at week 8 to assess changes in hydrogen and methane.

Vitamin D3 + K2 for Vitamin Deficiency

The main purpose of this research study is to learn about the effects of supplemental vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 on blood levels and the gut microbial community, called the gut microbiome. There are many influences on blood levels of vitamin D and K to include your dietary intake, lifestyle behaviors (physical activity, sleep), genetic alterations in metabolism of these vitamins, and the gut microbial abundance and diversity. You will be asked to take one capsule containing vitamin D3 (125 mcg), vitamin K2 (180 mcg), a combination of vitamins D3 and K2 (same doses as previous), or a placebo powder for 90 days. You will also be asked to complete questionnaires, undergo body composition and blood pressure measurements, provide blood samples and a stool swab, all on 2 occasions about 3 - 4 months apart. By conducting this study, we aim to identify the frequency of common genetic alterations in vitamins D and K metabolism and establish the impact on the gut microbiome for the first time. Your participation in this study will last about 4 - 6 months and include up to 3 visits.

Endoscopic Evaluation for Iron-Deficiency Anemia

This is a single-center, randomized pilot study evaluating the feasibility and safety of two management strategies for patients on antithrombotic therapy who present with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB). Participants will be randomized to either repeated endoscopic evaluations or a conservative medical approach with limited testing. The study aims to assess whether conservative management yields similar clinical outcomes and quality of life compared to standard repeated endoscopic procedures. Results will inform the design of a larger trial and address the current lack of guidelines for managing recurrent iron-deficiency anemia in this patient population.

Mitapivat for Anemia

This is a prospective exploratory phase 2 study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of mitapivat in RBC membranopathies and CDAII, a rare sub type of anemia. Nine patients from Princess Margaret who are diagnosed with CDAII will be enrolled to the study. Patients will be in the trial for 57 weeks treatment weeks and a safety follow up week after 30 days from last dose. First 8 weeks will be dose escalating period followed by 48 weeks of fixed dose period. 57th week will be dose tapering week. Data collected from Princes Margaret will be incorporated to the main study conducted in EU for analysis. Overall, approximately 25 patients are expected to be enrolled: Approximately 16 patients at sites in the EU and approximately 9 patients in Canada.

Exercise Programs for Cancer

EXCEL will provide online and, where feasible, in-person exercise programs to individuals living with and beyond cancer (ILWBC). Research has shown that targeted programs that include tailored exercise prescriptions are more successful in helping individuals with chronic disease to incorporate physical activity and exercise into their daily routines. While ILWBC are advised by healthcare professionals (HCPs) to engage in exercise, there is a lack of cancer-specific exercise programs and cancer-trained exercise specialists in Canada, outside of the research setting. Considering the negative impact cancer and its treatments have on fitness and physical activity levels, community-based efforts towards improving access, uptake and maintenance of exercise programming are needed. This study will evaluate the benefits of a community-based or online EXCEL exercise program for people living with and beyond cancer across Canada, using a streamlined intake process compared to the original EXCEL Study (HREBA.CC-20-0098, NCT04478851). This 8 to 12-week program (intervention) will be delivered in-person or over virtual platform. It includes twice weekly supervised exercise classes.

Lanreotide for Preventing Surgical Complications in Pancreatic Cancer

This phase III trial compares the effect of using lanreotide before surgery to surgery alone in preventing pancreatic fistulas in patients with pancreatic cancer or a pancreatic lesion that could become cancerous. Lanreotide, a type of somatostatin analog similar to somatostatin (a hormone made by the body), and is used to treat certain types of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and carcinoid syndrome. It may help stop the body from making extra amounts of certain hormones, including growth hormone, insulin, glucagon, and hormones that affect digestion. It may also help keep certain types of tumor cells from growing. Patients with pancreatic cancer or pancreatic lesions may undergo surgery to remove parts of the pancreas, also called a distal pancreatectomy. Patients may experience complications after surgery, including pancreatic fistulas. A pancreatic fistula occurs when there is a small leak from the pancreas, causing fluids to collect. This can often lead to infection and other problems. Giving lanreotide before undergoing distal pancreatectomy may be more effective than surgery alone in preventing the development of a pancreatic fistula in patients with pancreatic cancer or a pancreatic lesion that could become cancerous.

Luspatercept for Clonal Cytopenia

The purpose of this clinical trial is to test how well the drug luspatercept works in improving low blood cell counts in people with clonal cytopenias of uncertain significance (CCUS). The main questions the study seeks to answer include: * How many patients experience improvements in their low blood counts (red cells, platelets, or white cells) within 24 weeks, based on specific criteria for blood conditions like myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)? * How long these improvements last before the condition worsens or changes. * The percentage of participants showing improvements at 12, 24, and 48 weeks. * How long it takes for the condition to progress to more severe diseases like myeloid disorders. * How long red blood cell responses last and how quickly these responses are seen. * The average change in hemoglobin levels over 24 weeks. * How many patients need blood transfusions during the study and how soon transfusions are required. * Changes in participants' well-being and energy levels based on a standardized questionnaire. * Monitoring for any side effects, including progression to MDS or leukemia, heart-related issues, or sudden increases in hemoglobin. Participants will: * Receive luspatercept as an injection every three weeks. * Visit the clinic every three weeks for treatment and monitoring.
