Effectiveness

How Isosorbide Mononitrate Affects PatientsIsosorbide mononitrate is a drug used to prevent and manage angina, a chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It works by producing nitric oxide, which relaxes the walls of your veins and arteries to reduce the amount of pressure on your heart. This can lead to reduced oxygen consumption in the heart, increased blood flow to blocked arteries, and relief from coronary spasms. The effects of the drug can be felt within 1-4 hours of taking it, and can last for up to 12 hours.
How Isosorbide Mononitrate works in the bodyIsosorbide mononitrate helps widen blood vessels in the body. When metabolized, it releases nitric oxide, which signals the walls of blood vessels to relax. This lets more blood and oxygen flow through the vessel, which helps reduce blood pressure and increase circulation. The relaxation of the vessel is caused by a decrease in the amount of calcium inside the cell, which allows it to loosen up and let more blood through.

Isosorbide Mononitrate for prevention of anginal chest pain associated with coronary artery disease
I've only been taking this medication for a short while, but I already feel better. At first, I felt unsteady on my feet, but that went away pretty quickly. I also had a headache and chest pains, but those have both subsided partially. With continued use, I'm hoping all the side effects will go away completely.

Isosorbide Mononitrate for Angina Pectoris Prevention
I'm pretty certain that these tablets are the cause of my recent issues with chest and throat pain, as well as shortness of breath. All the tests came back negative, but I've seen other reviews mentioning similar side effects.

Isosorbide Mononitrate for Angina Pectoris Prevention
I had a really tough time after taking this medication. I developed an excruciating headache that only got worse as the day went on, and then ended up vomiting all night long. It took two days for the pain to subside, and even now I still feel some residual effects. Overall, I would much rather deal with chest pain than go through that again.

Isosorbide Mononitrate for Angina Pectoris Prevention
At first, I had horrible headaches after taking this medication. However, I read a suggestion that said to take it an hour before bed. This has helped me immensely as now I only get headaches while sleeping and they're not nearly as bad.

Isosorbide Mononitrate for prevention of anginal chest pain associated with coronary artery disease
This was a terrible experience. I fainted multiple times while taking this medication and only stopped after doing some research and discovering that fainting was a common side effect. It was also hard to get in touch with my doctor. Surely there's something better out there than this.
