Treatment Summary
Perindopril is a medication used to lower blood pressure and reduce cardiovascular risk in people with hypertension or coronary heart disease. It belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Perindopril is taken orally and is quickly converted to its active metabolite, perindoprilat, which works by blocking the enzyme responsible for converting angiotensin I to angiotensin II. By blocking this enzyme, Perindopril helps to regulate blood pressure and maintain a healthy balance of hormones in the body.

How Aceon Affects Patients
Perindopril is a drug that works by blocking the enzyme (angiotensin II) and hormone system (renin angiotensin aldosterone system, or RAAS) that regulates blood pressure and water balance in the body. It works by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, which has numerous effects on the body including increasing blood pressure, increasing sodium and water reabsorption from the kidneys, stimulating the secretion of vasopressin, and inducing thirst. Additionally, it prevents the breakdown of bradykinin, a vasodilator which helps further reduce blood
How Aceon works in the body
ACE inhibitors work by blocking an enzyme called ACE. This enzyme has two parts, called N and C domains, which have similar roles. The C domain is mainly responsible for controlling blood pressure, and the N domain helps with stem cell development. Perindopril, the active form of ACE inhibitor, stops ACE from binding to another protein, called ATI. This lowers the amount of ATI in the body, which in turn lowers blood pressure. Perindopril also increases the amount of renin in the body, which can help to regulate blood pressure.
When to interrupt dosage
