It belongs to a group of medicines known as central nervous system (CNS) depressants, which make you feel sleepy and relaxed. Pentobarbital does not have any pain-relieving effects, and can actually cause excitement if taken while in pain.
How Nembutal works in the bodyPentobarbital works by binding to a chloride channel on neurons in the thalamus area of the brain. This binds the channel open, leading to increased GABA activity.
