How Hycodan works in the bodyHydrocodone works by binding to two types of opioid receptors, mu and delta. The mu receptor produces most of the drug's pain relieving effects. Hydrocodone also binds to opioid receptors in the brain and can reduce pain signals from reaching the brain.
